Bike Bandit lists two batteries for the GS500E 89-00.  Both are described as being shipped without acid.  What does this mean in terms of readiness of use right out of the box?  Thanks.
Dude, what does mine say?  Sweet!  What about mine?

It means you have to fill the battery up yourself, then charge it, prior to installing it.

My suggestion would be to go to an auto parts store and purchase it there, it comes with the acid and its not very expensive.
I have even read that some peeps ahve gotten good deals at Walmart

If you haven't already ordered a replacement battery, be sure to read the old thread newbie...need battery help from gstwin gods.  Your wallet may thank you!

If you don't go with a sealed battery, and you order a conventional battery via mail order, you should be able to get a container of electrolyte (acid) from an auto parts store.  (That's what I did.)  Otherwise, an auto or bike repair shop would probably fill the battery for you for a couple bucks.  They often buy their electrolyte in bulk and can meter out the amount you need right into the battery cells.

I got mine at Advanced Auto Parts for 28.99, it came with the acid and drainage hose

Filled it and charged it overnight

Why waste your money on the ridiculous shipping costs, just buy it locally at a chain auto parts store, with no waiting for it to be shipped

That Advanced Auto Parts battery sounds great.  Do you happen to have a make / model # for it?  How is the size compared to the stock battery?  And which side is the vent tube on?

We need details!  :)

I went to Walmart to check out Srinath's sealed battery.  If I was looking at the right battery (# ES12BS), the price was $49.99.  I thought I read in an old thread that this battery was priced at half what you would pay for a stock battery.  Is this the price everyone else paid for their Walmart battery?

Another question:  How many miles do I need to put on my new tires to break them in?

Thanks.

Yea mine was 49.99 ... I know $$$ but it will last much longer than the non selaed one, especially under poor maintenance.
Cool.

Hi there,
New battery, yes.
Buying at Wal-Mart? NO. That place is the scourge of our nation.
That is all.

nothing wrong with wallyworld...

if you mean they use cheap labor (migrants) then perhaps its best to stop eating food...the vast majority of our food is picked by them.

Also a nudist camp might be in order too :o since most of our clothes are made in sweatshops in china, india, or vietnam.

I don't mean to get preachy but everything this nation stands on, eats, or wears was built by a physical or economical slave either here or abroad.

Peace
