Damaged generator?

This is a follow up from my "engine knock round 2" thread where my replies were getting buried. I apologize if that is taboo!

Backstory and question --  I pulled off the starter clutch/generator assembly and it fell apart as it popped off. The bolts are entirely rounded or broken. Attached is a picture of the back of the generator. New bolts do thread in tightly but the damage to the back worries me a bit.

Is this salvageable?  Previous thread also shoes one of the magnets is also cracked on the other side. http://i.imgur.com/9emo9Sd.jpg

Thanks a million for your time!

I'd drill and tap new holes, don't risk using those holes again.

Agreed, although with the cracked magnets on top of the damaged holes , I would suggest a new or used rotor.

That is only the insulation/sealant cracked/missing. Provided the resistances check out OK I would not replace it yet. With the bolts repaired you will have much less vibration and shock load in the area. It may be OK.

being a internal part of your engine for the amount of damage there is from a machinist point of view replace it.

Look on the left of the picture , the magnet is cracked at its base. I would be uncomfortable.

It may be a glue or other line ... if its a crack, no, dont use that magnet.
Cool.

Thanks bmf. I agree that if that line is indeed a crack in the magnet it should not be used. Perhaps I did not look close enough but I did think that it might be just the edge of the insulation.

Sorry for the long delay in response, I appreciate the replies! It is in fact a hairline crack the entire distance of the one magnet that's missing the epoxy. I also picked up a few 12.9 - m14 bolts from the local hardware store to check out the threading and one of the bolts threads in at a 15 degree angle. :) What is also not visible in the picture is the magnet with the crack is also missing a small piece on the back (2mm x 2mm). It looks like something hit it to chip it off; I imagine the rotor is now just an expensive piece of scrap...

I have been looking for a used replacement part here locally (Minneapolis) with no luck. Any recommendations for online part stores you have had success with? Best deal I can find is roughly ~215 new (31402-01D00 ROTOR on partzilla). Secondarily, besides a new crankcase gasket and starter clutch bolts - anything else I should look into while the crankcase cover is off?

Thanks for all the help, it's much appreciated.

Anyone? Sorry for being 'that guy,' Just looking to avoid any costly mistakes and hoping I can ride it this year before our Minnesota fall/winter!

All the best,

I just yacked a 2006 engine.. I'm sure the rotor is good on it. I'm located in Medford, WI. I'm sure we could work up some sort of deal. PM me if interested.
