Bike doesn't like revving past 8k RPM.

After rejetting the bike, if I go to full throttle the engine hits a dead spot at about 8000 RPM. It will keep revving, but very slowly. If I drop back to about 3/4 throttle, it doesn't do so anymore. My two thoughts are either improper float height or a vacuum leak somewhere. Anyone else want to chime in?

At those RPMs a small vacuum leak isn't noticeable. Check air filter, float height......................

What year bike, what intake/exhaust mods, and what jetting did you do?

Stock 2001 with a 20 pilot, stock mid, 132.5 main, one washer on the slides, and three turns out on the idle mix screw. Air filter is okay; I'm thinking the floats are set too low and it's running the carb bowls out of fuel.

very possible. Dont think it would take too much to adjust for this.

Before you make any modifications to your floats, check the fuel level in the bowls with a clear tube from the drain.  Put the bike on prime (without it running) and the fuel level in the tube should be level with the top of the float bowl gasket.  If the fuel level is too low, then your float height is too high.  If the fuel level is too high or doesn't stop filling, then you float level is too low, or your needle valves are not sealing properly.

Finally got some time to dive into this earlier today. Turns out one of the main jets had somehow fallen out and was sitting in the bottom of one of the carb bowls. :icon_confused: Screwed it back in, made sure it was tight, and all was good.
