9 August:

Since i hate the original filter for its impracticality for placing back once removed, I decided it had to go!

This day i received a nice package :D and i started taking apart the bike.....

Can you spot the replacement? :)

YAAAY PODFILTERS!!!!! :D

I used my original airfilter to carb pipes to donnect the 54mm podfilters to the 60mm carb. It works like a charm :D
LOVE EM! :D

I offcourse had to rejet my carburettor, adjust my fuel/airscrews and rebalance my carbs.
im now running:
- main 148
- Pilot 40 (3,5 turns out i believe)

The pilot screws i did one carb at a time. Disconnecting the other sparkplug, then i balanced by connecting and disconnecting the plugs after the carbs performed their best on their own.

The sound of this thing is mental! :D i have no good camera to film it though :(

Thats it for this update!

Ill keep you guys posted! :D

So yeah, i had a bit of a crash

Damage:
- Headlight and mounting brackets broken.
- Sidefender split in half
- Speedometer cable broken off
- Speedometer damaged
- tagometer damaged
- Tank dented
- left mirror damaged
- Adidas Jacket gone to shaZam!
- Helmet damaged

But the frame and driving capabilities don't seem to have been influenced. and i learned a good lesson. NEVER GET DISTRACTED! NOT EVEN FOR A SECOND!

I myself have been lucky i think. Got a couple of solid bruises, and a nice scratch on my side, but nothing that time won't heal i think. I bought myself a new motor jacket, wich i will wear as normal jacket. so i'll ALWAYS have a jacket on when i drive.

A bad day, but lessons learned!!

Ill keep you guys posted!

That looks sweet  :thumb: Does an air filter change (like yours or just a regular k&n) affect the fuel consumption in a negative way?

Sorry you got hurt and about the bike, but yeah you always have to be "in the zone" when riding. Get well soon.

So yeah, while im awaiting salary to buy myself some new stoeefff to put on my bike, i've been looking around the forum, watching projects to be inspired for a bit. In any case, it involves the backend. I therefore decided that all the wiring in the back (Accept blinkers and ass) had to go somewhere else. This is what it looked like, when i took the seat, tank and side fenders off.

Yup! A lot of cables everywhere. If i was to alter or chop off the back Bobber style (which i plan to do) all those would shot. Ugly stuff. This had to be changed, but where to put it all?! Check this out:

Yup! My good 'ol stock airfilter house! I have space there! If i would make it into a little bucket or something, i could just put all the wiring stuff in there! So i did :)

This is a view of all the cables and boxes for god knows what, put into a little space. And everything seems to still work :)

I have to move into the garage, due to incoming rain. but this is what it looks like from the sides now:

Took it outside later today to make some more photo's. Im quite liking where this all is going! :D

Thats it for this update!

Ill keep you guys posted! :D

Thanks! :)

Im very sure that these filters doe affect the comsumption in a negative way, as i had to up my mainjets a lot. how much however, i cannot say. i've had it to short, and since i put pods on so fast, i don't know what to expect from the comsumption anyways :P

Heheh, well, i can walk fairly well again, but now that the swelling is gone, i can see all the bruises a lot! :0 my side and left upper legg looks like one of those blue dudes in avatar! XD

Sorry to hear about the crash. Hope it doesn't put you off the bike. I'm liking the pod filters. What size do you think I should order? We're the ones you got a perfect size?

Krav

Thanks :) i used pods with a diameter of 54mm.

I pulled the tubes out of my original airfilter. The pods very tightly fit IN those tubes, so when you then put those clamps on t here, its a strong, tight fit. That way you can still use carb side of the original air filter tubes for easy fitting.

Ow and im allready back on the bike :) i love riding it and not that easily scared off ;)

Krav

Thanks a lot! :) I use your project to inspire me. So in the bigger lines, i try to do what you're doing. In the details, i want to be unique though :)

Received 2 packages today! Will update soon!

Another small update, I received 2 packages today! (yay)
I have 2 more coming, but this to start with

- New Grips
- Tankguard
- Carburettor Revision kit
- Taillight with front and back blinkers :D

I changed out the grips today, and put on the tank guard. The carb revision kit ill save for a later day.

The Taillight though i have a little problem with, there's no instructions, and theres a very limited wiring scheme in french present with more units in it then i received. I think i figoured out that the flasherrelay should be replaced, but that something i didnt have time to wire this day. Anyway. Here's some pictures :D

Groupphoto:

Some photos of the new stuff on the bike :D

A nice little touch :) Im not to stoked about the grips though. the orange tone differs from the tank, so it doesnt give the effect i hoped for. But it was better then the flaming grips i had by far :D which is nice :P

Next update is going to be bigger, i hope :)

Thats it for this update!

Ill keep you guys posted! :)

looking good man. I had some bother with my tail light but in the end there were only 5 wires and 2 of them were indicators so after a few fuse poping attempts I got it.

I quite like the handlebars you have. Might look into getting a set that sit lower to give the bike a sportier feel.

Krav, cool project so far. But there are 2 concerns of mine that I hope you can address: I see you moved a lot of the electronic stuff into the airbox, but where is the regulator / rectifier? They generally need a good bit of airflow. And the other concern - what type of pod air filters are you using? The cheaper Emgo pods are terribly designed.....for a multiple reasons.

Thanks :)

The unit with the coolingfins on it? I mounted that to a bracket to the side of my battery, so that catches the wind nicely.

The pods were cheap. I might consider changing them to K&N pods at some point, but the weather now isnt to bad. so for now, ill keep these pods.

The cheap filters don't really filter well at all, and can wear out your engine quickly. And on some bikes, they actually block one of the passages in the carbs.

I know they may not filter as well. but with mild weather, in a city, im not to bothered to spend 100 on K&N filters right now.
As for air flow, they both are unrestrictive. My mainjet size of 148 works well for me on these. On the wiki i read that 147,5 should work for K&N pods. So im not too worried that the airflow is restriced.

But thanks for your concern! :) And at some point ill definately replace them, but for now, ill keep em on.
