National Cycle questions!?

I've already searched like crazy on this board and found a lot of good stuff.  However my real question is regarding the National Cycle F-15 Tour, and F-16 Tour shields.

Does anyone have experience with these?  How is the wind protection?

My ultimate goal is maximum wind protection with good looks also.

Thanks!   :thumb:

i have the f-16 and like it alot. never gonna ride without a windshield again. looks good imo. dont know much about the f-15
going fast isnt the problem, its the crashing and burning that hurts

Has anyone got the tall version of the F16 windshield on their GS? And, and pics of it mounted? The coverage would have to be even better, but I'm wondering how it looks. :dunno:

I put the tall F-16 on mine.  Unfortunately, never took pics of it before I sold it.

It made a world of difference.  Really takes the blast off the chest.

I have put the F16 (tinted version) on a '96 GS.  I am 6 foot tall and the screen reduced the wind pressure on my chest without creating turbulance at my head hight.  It looks great on the GS as well (don't have digital camera but there are a few photos on the web - try google).  My wife rode the bike on a 3 weeks, 6000km+ tour with the screen and it was great protection for all but the locust plague we encountered :?

Cheers

I have the F-15 Touring Shield (see my signature) and protection is adequate up to my chin (on my 5'2" frame) and out to the ends of my grips. I would have liked for the wind to go over my helmet, but there is not any "turbulance" effect created. You'll be glad you had one when tucking behind it in rain, around 18-wheelers, and thru the speedlimit threshold

Try that using a "bug shield"      :P  :P :nana:

Will try to post pics of my windshield if possible. Check back later this week.

Sorry for the long wait. I've been to busy lately with work and all. I finally figured out how to post a pick. Thanks Yahoo! Photos. :thumb:
(Shameless plug: Yahoo is free, offers 100MB of e-mail storage, file swapping/sharing, online picture storing/viewing, integrated YahooMessenger and MyYahoo, and it is accessible with any ISP anywhere in the world)

Anyways, I will try to get some better pics of my windshield now that I know how. This picture gives you a good view of the angle, but it really does not do justice on the overall beauty of it. Check back this weekend for more pics.

Help Kerry!?!

I've been reading all these posts on how to imbed a pic. I thought I was able to do it b/c I'm pretty sure my YahooPics are stored online.

Do me a favor someone. Let me know whether you can see my pic above or not. If not, right click on the "red x" and go to Properties and copy/past the link into a new webpage address. Do you see it now?

I can see my pic and I am not even logged onto Yahoo or GSTwin.com What gives? :dunno:

I tried the "Properties" trick before, but no go.  Is this the right URL?

Can you see the pic if you click on that link?  I can't.

Darn, doesn't show up for me either.  Haven't there been some problems with some of the yahoo.com pics in the past?

Someone please tell me you can see my F-15 Windshield now?!?
I don't know why the URL changed, but I did a test of the same pic in the test page first and it worked.

Nada.  Zilch.  Nuttin'.

I tried this link and the test section, rightclicked on the x-box, copied the link and pasted...  Access denied.  This really sucks--  I really want to see how it looks!

I truly apologize for this big mess.

Apparently, my YahooBriefcase and YahooPics cannot be used for linking pics directly online. I have to give you the link so you can access my "public" folders containing my pics. Here is the link: http://f2.pg.briefcase.yahoo.com/gwrmobley

Click on the folder appropriately titled "gstwin.com". Then click on flash_96 GS 500. Again, this is only a profile pic of my F-15 Touring Windshield. I will post more pics later.

Hooray!!  (No sarcasm intended)  So you say that the fairing doesn't cause turbulence at helmet level?

I would call it negligable or slight. Definitely not turbulant IMO.

Ok, I finally registered with www.photobucket.com so I could direct/hot link my images. I searched the forum for different suggestions, but this one seemed the easiest and straight forward.

On the main page click on the sample album to see example layout --> they even make it easy by allowing you to copy the URL, Tag, or Img. The website is free (donations welcome), easy on the eyes, and all you need is a username, password, and valid e-mail address. There are some restrictions though on file size, content (no nudity or porn), etc. Only took me a couple of minutes to register and upload pic.  :thumb:    :thumb:

Kerry, eat your heart out  (only j/k)

i have the f18, which you can (almost) see in the one and only pic of my bike.  it does nothing for wind, but keeps bugs off the "dash" and looks pretty cool :P

here's a question... can that stupid warning sticker (see Flash's pics) be removed from the tank? i'd really like it gone (and the glue that holds it) w/o damaging the tank finish

Not sure about your tank sticker b/c mine was long gone when I bought the bike but I also have an F18.  I notice that is has helped a little bit.  I noticed especially on hot days when my perferated jacket didn't seem like it was working as well as it had before.  It's certainly not that good but it does make a slight difference for the better.

i see you have the same crappy bracket holding the screen in place.  i thought that was just a hack by the previous owner of my gs... guess not
