Hey I'm new to all this...I recently acquired the bike from my manager as a birthday present...the only problem it has its that the motor seized...but since I can't find another engine I was hoping if you guys know of another type of engine that well fit into the frame...anything would help thank you in advance

my only advice is keep an eye out on craigslist... I have the same problem trying to get parts for my GS project bike. that or ebay.

seems like the gs500 is becoming a rare one...  :icon_rolleyes:

Pretty much any year GS500 engine will work with some massaging. Newer F model engines have electronic pickups for the tach, oil cooler plumbing, and PAIR valves, plus a few minor electronics difference (easy swap from original engine.)

Blown engines are a very common problem for GS500s. Right now, an E engine typically runs $500, and the F engine asking price is $1200 on ebay. These engines consume oil, and a lot of novice riders don't pay enough attention resulting in these problems.

If you are near CA and are mechanically inclined, I have a partially rebuilt bottom end I'm selling for cheap.

Silverlar

Thank you guys what are you asking for the bottom part of the motor??

$200 for my rebuilt bottom end, and $500 for the complete GS500F motor.

The rebuilt bottom end hasn't been tested, and may have problems. If it's broken, I'll refund the purchase price. It will need a new generator rotor (one of the magnets is damaged.)
