Hi,

Is there diffrent lengths of choke cables for this bike?
I did order one from ebay but its like 1cm too short. My choke is allways on with that cable.
And yes cable tightening mechanicm is loose as it can be..  :technical:

When I put bar risers on my first GS the choke cable would pull it open and race the engine on hard right parking turns.  I just rerouted the cable to go behind the left fork tube instead of around in front of it where it normally runs to eliminate the problem.
407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average.  Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.

Hi. I have exactly the same bike as you (99ex) and ordered a choke cable from ebay. It was also too short. Order one from a different supplier or from Suzuki. I can't remember the name of the company. cheers. J

actually, there's kits out there for building your own cables.

you basically just solder the little nipples onto the end of a piece of steel wire.

DO NOT get the bicycle kits, those are for BICYCLES not things with engines.

also make sure you get ones or buy separately the sleeves that go over the steel cable. and lube the cable, with cable lube before you slide them into the sleeves. Done this many times, have yet to have a failure. I've even gone as far as making my own zinc nipples for a custom throttle linkage on a gokart!

order from www.bikebandit.com

My 89 had stock clip ons and i went with super bike bars. Ordered my clutch cable for a 2002 from bike bandit. They sent me an OEM suzuki cable which fit perfectly!
You don't own a project bike..
The Project bike owns you!

Anyways that didn't help. It's too short still. I did contact bikebandit and asked them to verify correct cable.
