Somebody asked about boots inside another thread...cant find so I started a new thread.

They were looking for good protection yet a boot that you can walk around in and maybe even wear to work under jeans, etc.

I have the X cube boot.....does all the above, and I think they're just great!  Some are even more shoe or sneaker like....

These are on closeout right now...sizes are limited, but they are what I picked up. Can wear on and off bike...
3 colors, but sizes are running out.

I got the TCX X-Move boots, and I agree that they are great.  Good mix between wearability/comfort and protection.

I;ve got the tcx x-square boots. They feel pretty sturdy and are comfortable too. I went down with them on once and they just got a little scruffed on the outside, but they're fine and more importantly so are my feet.

That was me. I'm looking for something to replace my current boots that are a set of old US issue, full leather black combat boots. They have the extra stitching and heavy leather, but they're just about worn out. I'd like something the same height (over the ankle, below the calf) because I like the nice overlap I can get with my pants to keep the wind out.  Also the added ankle protection. They don't have to be super comfortable to walk in, I just have to be able to get around campus. I saw Alpinestars Scout, but I don't know how tall they are.

How tall are those Fastbacks? They look short compared to what I'm wearing now.

These are what I was considering, but I don't know how tall they are.

Well I had to return fastback, they were to small, and since they were clearance no more sizes to fit me... I ended up reordering these instead:

TCX X-MOVE WP

Those look really nice!   If they are a step up from X cube (which I have) you're gonna love  'em!

Revzilla really does a nice job on the video demo on these boots and all their products..and they tell the straight story, no BS...

Couple thoughts....

Those (TCX Move) have a very stiff sole, much stiffer than X Cube...so great for riding, but maybe a bit stiff for walking, wearing to work etc...

I had some on the Internet freak out when you show them a "lace up" motorcycle boot.   But really, with a lace up  you can really get the boot to fit exactly how you want it...tighter sometimes or looser for others...but they will really contour to your foot and feel nice.......

The wide Velcro flap at the top covers the tied part of the laces so no chance of getting caught on anything...

those leather "combat" boots, standard issue what ever they're called.

I went down with them around 45mph in a low side. they offer no ankle support. but sure felt a lot better then the time before that wearing tennis shoes...

one day ill buy a real pair of riding boots, before I break something for real...

Oh yeah, I don't have much confidence as far as real protection goes, but they're better than my steel toes that have canvas sides. I mainly want something that's a similar height.

I'm leaning toward the TCX X-Miles or X-Ride right now.

Im a little concerned with stiffness but will mostly be riding them to go to work and study, Ill bring another pair of shoes if I need to walk more and stuff these in a bag, but if its just a little walking I should be "ok" :)

I went with the TCX X-Ride WP

I just got them in the mail today (arrived a day early!) but so far I love them. I wore them around for a couple hours and they're comfortable off the bike so far, can't wait to wear them tomorrow!

anyone have decent boots that have laces, but also have a zipper down the side??
-Walker

Rallyfan

I do not but I'll mention this: those zippers that incorporate existing laces do work and are practical.

they are amazing and very practical indeed. I had a pair of hiking boots like so.. Been looking for a pair of motorcycle boots like them ever since. lol

also anyone with high arches, most motorcycle boots seem to be made for flat footed people...  :icon_rolleyes:

Another idea is having a good cobbler add a side zipper. I've not seen a good cobbler this century but hopefully some may not have retired yet?

that's not a bad idea! the only crappy part is the fact ill have to lay down like $160-200 bucks then on-top of what ever it might cost to have them modified.

I live in florida, I NEED water resistant boots... I hate getting soggy feet riding home at 5 AM.

The TCX X-Ride is a velcro closure with a zipper on the side. They're waterproof, but if your pants soak through you'll have it dripping down your socks. Mid height. I like mine, my feet have been warm and dry as long as my pants are waterproof.  Sometimes I gauge the weather wrong. Only thing is that if you have tiny legs they might feel a bit loose up top. I'm able to tighten it up around my legs, but it's definitely not the "default" position.
