So I just acquired some 0.85 Sonic Springs.  I'm considering using Pablo's method from his site.

http://pantablo500.tripod.com/id2.html

Anyone have experience using this method?

The site says 97-02 GS.  I actually have an '05 F.  I can't see why it wouldn't work for my ride, but I am looking for some feedback.

Dunno about the forks themselves, but oil level, springs & preload adjusters are definitely different. Doesn't change the method much, though (if everything else is the same).

@Edit: according to a picture from our dear departed adidasguy, 'F' springs are longer and beefier as stock, so I maybe wouldn't expect that much of an improvement. Not to discourage you, though, just an FYI!

Ride it like a 2 stroke:
1: Rev high
2: Add oil
3: Repeat

Go with the method on Sonic Springs site, it's easy  once you have read it through a couple of times.

Here is a link to my questions when I did the change, also for .85s

Another point ,  if the oil is nasty black, think about changing the two sliders on each fork, I did not and now need to change them this winter. Abt 20$ per fork. My fork oil was going nasty black in less then a thousand Kms

There's a lot wrong with that method. Just follow the instructions that come with the springs.

Panther, I just want to mention it: the F model forks are constructed differently than the E model forks. Search around on YouTube for a video by BaltimoreGS, it's pretty good.

And definitely follow Rich's instructions on his site.

Outstanding.  Thanks, guys.  I will definitely check out that video, Rich.

Okay, I replaced my springs.  The hard way.  Getting the forks out because of layers and layers of state inspections on the left fork (indicating a LONG time since the forks oil was changed) caused me more grief than anything else.

It took about 4 1/2 hours.  I haven't test driven it, but the tire spins freely, the brakes work (a bit stiffer, so I may have to work on that), and the front sag is about right.  Its 40 degrees and dropping as the sun sets, so I'm gonna test drive it tomorrow.

I've gotta say, between the Kat 600 shock and the Sonic 0.85 fork springs, the bike handling difference is truly amazing.  What really gets me is I found the parts to do both things for under $100.  The used shock was 32 shipped on eBay, the gently used springs I got in a part out here from amkluttz for 65 shipped.  I'm totally amazed.
With a fresh rear tire I got a couple weeks ago, this bike can really get funky in the turns!
