OK so I got contacted for an item I am selling on Craigslist.
I gave the guy an old address, and he's sent a check.
I am planning to say, OK come by and get it, and calling the cops to come arrest him when he's there.
Now has anyone tried this ? How would I go about doing this.
Thanks guys.
Cool.

Well the check should be there in a day or may have been there already, however I sent it to Caleee-fornieeee-aaaaa.
I wasn't thinking this through, I wanted to shaft the guy.
I guess now I cant ?

This is the most crazy thing I have ever heard of.
Additionally, I keep experiencing overtones of Dr. Michael Savage every time I read your last post.
The story is simply too brief. There is a lot more going on here.
Just saying.  :dunno_black:

Not really. I posted some speakers on CL.
The clown responded saying he wanted to buy it etc etc , so I replied saying yes its available.
He came back with some long story of how he will send me a check and what not. I go, OK fool lets see if I can toss you in jail.
I said ok fine send it to some random address (not really, I lived down the street and this house had a cop live in it back in 2000-01) so I thought it would be a good one to send it to.
Then some quick googling later, that house got sold in 2010. So WTF, now I have this fake check crap just going to some random house.
So I want to find out how I can get the scammer tossed in the slammer.
Very much made up as it went along. Which is why its failing now.

Errrm Buddha mate. .. be very careful with these guys... they rarely work solo. .. they have few morals about vengeance. .. they also usually have I.T. backup. ... it'd be a real shame to catch one of the bastards only to wake up one morning to find yourself tied to a Bertrand and see old mate Motumbo standing there grinning with a rusty machete in his hand and a 4 tooth smile on his face! ...

Best to just let the authorities know then step right back into the shadows... they can deal with it IF they choose to!

Janx101

Bertrand? .. fucken spellchecker! .. bed frame!

Electrojake

Exactly!
You dont want this guy having his way with you mate.  >:(

I believe so EJ .. not  called as such.. leaders called warlords,  handy with machetes, knifes and assault rifles.

Buddha.   Cool you gave false and far away address.  Which in itself shows your own hesitancy in exposing yourself to danger...  so no meta data in your emails to Johnny Checkchopper that could be used to track you? ........

I normally just tell them to be intimate with a goat and leave it alone plus block the email address for future. .. real persistent ones I forward to authorities. .  Who are normally so overloaded with such things that they rarely target the small fish

Electrojake

Janks, your correct!
I Googled for info on these Nigerian fellows you talked about and they do indeed run internet scams to earn cash for their operations.
I was also a bit shocked at what Google images came back with on that same Nigerian Google search. . .
These boys look like they dont play too nice.  >:(

No, I was sending them to a house where I knew a cop lived. If it was down my street, I'd have still sent them there. Just my misfortune, they sold it in 2010. I'd work on getting some way of getting cops to pick them up.

Pictured below is the Nigerian Cyber Collections Unit.
They look like a very jovial group. I would not lose any further sleep over this issue.

... so you were going to send them to a cop's house... who if they still owned it, would be off duty and theoretically unprepared? ... but instead could have sent them to same address but with completely unawares/unprepared civilians!? .... shame Buddha shame! :-p

My friend Aghedo here is their "claims adjuster".
Hmm... It seems he's a little camera-shy.

OK well the cops seem interested. I gave them the scammers name, and the name of the person he's expecting to deal with. Fontavius Jackson. Hopefully they will toss him in the slammer with Bubba the big black ghey dude who's exploring his options in good ole Caleeee for neeeeaaaa.
Nice introduction to "American Dream" for nigerian scammer.
BTW these scams are now almost all american. However I suspect this one is nigerian. Cos the fool didn't know last thursday was thanksgiving.
