Hey guys what handlebar options do we have as far as lower than stock bars go.  I don't want drag bars (zero rise) but would like to go lower than stock. I've heard SV650? Can anyone confirm the rise on those? I've also read Renthal ultra lows (2 inch rise but aluminum), anything else out there? Ed

I have "superbike" bars on my GS and they are slightly lower than stock... very comfy and inexpensive!
Superbike bars, '04 GSXR headlight & cowl, DRZ signals, 1/2" fork brace, 'Busa fender, stainless exhaust & brake lines, belly pan, LED dash & brake bulbs, 140/80 rear hoop, F tail lens, SV650 shock, Bandit400 hugger, aluminum heel guards & pegs, fork preload adjusters, .75 SonicSprings, heated grips

I had superbike bars on my SV for about 5 minutes and I really didn't like how wide they were.  Very little sweep on them.  I changed them out for Rental Road Low bars (not ultra low).  They were much closer to a stock GS bar IMHO.  Plus the finish on the SB bars were super cheap.  The finish was coming off just from setting and adjusting them in the clamps.  The rental finish is powercoated or something but it is there for life and wont come off.   The rental bar was about $50 compared to $20 for the SB bars though...

The '89 clipons have a pretty good feel if you can find a pair and are probably the simplest "bolt-on" handlebar swap.  I've seen people use regular clipons, either above or below the triple clamp.  I'm not sure if I'd want to ride a bike with the forks moved up that high though.  If you really want clipons, I would stick them under the tripleclamp.  Do a search for clubmans.  There are lots of different types; they're used on all types of bikes.  You just have to find one that works with the geometry of the tank.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think there's a set of superbike bars on a friends bike in the garage (it's an RD but hey) but they "look" about the same rise as the stock bars? Does that sound right? Trying to judge by pictures and even some dimensions on the internet is kinda hard and I don't think their all measuring their rise the same..  on a set of stock bars (lightly bent..) upside down on the bench I get a total rise (from the bench to the bottom of the bar where they would meet the clamp of 3 1/2 - 3 11/16. Bikemaster superbike bars claim to be 3.04, emgo superbike clame to be 2 1/2 but they look like the same as the bikemaster bars. Renthal ultra lows claim to be 75mm (3 inch) but they "look' lower than stock on the internet.. The Ventura VH4's claim to be 27mm rise so I'm kinda leaning toward trying a set of those unless anyones got anymore feedback on the other bars. The goal is lowest bar without being a dragbar, but definitely not wider than stock either. Ed
