My leaky petcock...

...the frame mounted petcock has sprung a leak around the gasket and while I haven't opened it up yet, it seems I will need to replace it in its entirety, since I can't find replacement gasket or diaphragm for this part.

While replacing I'd like to modify the petcock to "on" "off" and "prime."  I'm thinking that I will use "reserve" as the "on" position and block the internal "on" port in the frame petcock so that "on" functions as an off switch.  Seems to reason that I need to either run a Y connection from the tank pet or simply plug the main fuel line.  Wondering if both approaches would work and if so, which is best?

I have an F model and wondering if anyone can clue me in on how to block the main "on" port in the frame petcock.  I've come across a couple of relevant threads but couldn't find a direct answer to my problem.

I'm aware that I will lose reserve functionality but I would prefer to have an off position that doesn't require lifting the tank.  Appreciate any help or opinions.  Thanks

I'd rather convert the PRI function to OFF if possible, since I use it like... never, and without RES I couldn't live.

But, that's just me.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes.
A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production.
Too weird to live, and too rare to die.
