My engine starting up completely changed? No longer as cold to start?

Hi everyone,

I have a very weird situation with my bike and I'm not sure what to make of it: my bike's startup behavior has changed.

2004 GS500f. 22k miles. No recent changes. I live in Hawaii.

GS500f's are supposed to be cold bikes -- not riding for a couple days would mean having to use the choke to start. That's how my bike was -- I had to choke my bike to get it to turn over. And my bike was so cold that even parking it for several hours would mean I'd have to choke it later, as if I had not even ridden it that day.

The last few times I've ridden my bike, my bike startup completely changed.

Now, the choke doesn't help to start it up like it used to. Instead, all I have to do is to hit the electric start, no choke and it'll start. It's a rough idle, but riding around a bit gets it going. And then today, I parked my bike for lunch for about an hour. When I started it up again, it was running nice and warm -- no choke needed!

So basically, my bike's startup performance is a lot better now (reminds me of my old Ninja 500 startup behavior), but I'm just a little dumbfounded because I don't see how or why it would have gotten better?

Any ideas?

Stuck choke lever/pull on the carbs?

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes.
A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production.
Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

This can't be it. My RPMs are 100% normal or where they should be.

Low rpm/idle isn't likely to suffer afaik, only when rpm rise and airflow increases. .. like breathing through a linen cloth, slow steady breath and you can manage 'just' .. but try a big deep fast breath and it's really restricted. ...

I think.. lol
