My wife gave me the best fathers day gift yesterday.  She took the old ripped up cover off the seat and redid it for me.  We went out to a fabric store and she bought a yard of vinyl for like 4.99.  She took the old seat  cover and spread it out as flat as possible and then traced a pattern of it onto the new stuff.  She made the pattern 2 inches bigger all the way around just to be safe.  Then she came up with the coolest part.  She threw the vinyl in the dryer for about 4-5 minutes so it was real warm and flexible.  When she did the seat she started on the sides and stretched them really tight and attached them and then worked her way around the back. Before she did the front she  put spray adhesive  on the foam so the cover would stick a little better and take the shape of the front part of the seat.

Overall the seat looks awesome.  I took some before and after pics and I'll have to post them when I get a chance.

Total costs
1. 4.99 for the vinyl
2. some 5/16 staples and staple gun - already had them
3.  spray adhesive - already had it.
4.  COOLEST WIFE IN THE WORLD

what kinda vinyl is it? i've gotten some at the fabric store before, but it feels softer and thicker than the stuff on my seat, plus the bottom is a layer of fabric, felt wool almost, does that stuff work fine for the seat, or did you find the thinner harder stuff? i think i'm gonna have to find an r1 seat to go with the r1 tail i got for heathers bike, and i'm sure i'll have to cut the front a little to make it fit against her tank just right, and i can get a seat for a much better price is it's all torn up, and all i've gotta do is recover it

i dunno, we went to joann fabrics and they had like three or four different kinds. we just matched up the thickness with the stuff from my old seat.  We gotta hook up sometime and i'll show you the job she did.
