I wasn't sure how this works - is it just deducted from my refund or is it taken out from future paychecks? Of course the service didn't provide any information on the subject.

Doesn't matter what anyone does about health insurance. The only thing that is certain is you will walk away with a sore A55 and scratching your head with less money in your pocket.
