I'll feel bad if it wasn't hand sanitizer. Maybe it's his personal mucus collection.

Anyway, here you are; I'm proud of this offering.

ragecage23

Lol yeah you got it. I'll get better at this.

Don't sweat it rage, we're glad to have you on board.  :woohoo:

Wow, that's tricky! The hand helps with scale...
I don't see any threads, and it appears to be aluminum, but otherwise I'm stumped for now.  :dunno_black:
I was thinking some sort of lock ring, but I'd assume it would need threads for that.

ragecage23

I was thinking a lock ring for a projector headlight?

Is that anodized aluminum or brass/copper?
Hard to tell on my phone from the color.

Looks like it has some depth to it.  Could have external threads on the back side of the flange.
I'd guess lock ring as well, but for what...

Twist lock for some kind of large hose like for a shop vac or something?

It's made of bronze

No threads. Reverse side is identical.

No correct guesses thus far.

Janx101

Drop in lock down axle or shaft locator/centerer!?

Whatever those things are called! Lol

Iarn

Janx, the shaft bit is tangentially related.

Janx101

Mine does that all the bloody time! :thumb:

I'm tryin think what applications/environments use bronze. .. was gonna say marine but they use more brass. .
And the design of the thing.. either a lock ring for something or a shifter type thing for gears maybe?  .. hrrrm. . Feels like I have seen that type of thing (once again) before... or at least read/seen pic of usage.

Curious and curiouser!

Iarn

I'm trying to think of hints, hmmm.

Iarn

Its function relates to a cylinder.

mennobike

does it relate to helping to twist something? like, with a wrench or some tool?
I'll have no idea what piece you're referring to unless you include one of the following: Doobly doo, thing-a-ma-jigger, or dibbledy dop.

Elmojo

Janx: Marine applications do use a lot of bronze.
Iarn: cylinder as in engine cylinder, or some other sort?

It's a stationary component.

It doesn't produce power, per se.

Elmojo

Not helpful, dude. Lol
Are the "lugs" tapered or the same thickness on each side?

Iarn

#3599
The thickness is uniform. 0.250" throughout.

I'm having trouble thinking of helpful hints. This isn't a common thing. Ha

Okay, how about this. The machine it goes in is used in industrial applications. The component itself isn't designed to move whatsoever. The ring is meant to interact with a piston inside a cylinder. However, the piston isn't to produce power.
