I have a 99' gs500e. The guy I got it from dropped it rolling it out of the garage. Before that it ran fine. Now I can't get it to crank. Starter working fine, it's acting like the engine isn't wanting to crank. Tried popping the clutch but it just locks the wheel up.starter just clicks in neutral without the clutch engaged. When you squeeze the clutch and try to start it, I get nothing. Does anyone have any ideas, I could use any advice I could get. I'm stumped and can't figure it out.thanks...

Cautionary tale: Recently I bought a good, cheapo non-runner. I spent about a day and a half going through all the 'serious' check/test procedures to no avail.
Hmmm not too happy, but not too perturbed 'cos I have another good motor and loom ready to drop in if necessary. Anyway my buddy was over to help me get it off the trailer, and he picked it immediately.
In my inspections I had seen a little very light chafing of the outer sheath covering of some wires coming through the triple-clamps, but I had thought the damage wasn't enough to cause a problem.
BUT the mate, (who is a qualified motorbike mechanic who can spot a missing split-pin at 50 paces) told me to strip the outer sheathing away, and sure enough, the main ignition wire had be neatly cut by the steering lock-stop -even though the outer sheath covering was hardy damaged.
Beam me up Scottie....
