Who else has thought about having the exhaust pipe coming out the bottom of the tail end instead of on the right side of the rear wheel? And who's done it? I really want this done On my 06 gsf.

I don't think there is space. You'd have to move a whole lot of things. Most bikes who have that sort of pipe routing are built around it.

I'm pretty sure you'll have interferences with the monoshock, at least. Possibly the swingarm.

It would be a major undertaking.

Take out the stock under seat guard thingy, get your small diameter can and mount it up with custom brackets, fab up a replacement surround guard thingy around the can, go to local exhaust shop that has a pipe wizard! Tell them 'join that to that!' , pay the fee and away you go! ... simple! ...

... did I mention the many hours of head scratching and careful figuring out and materials testing/shaping?!? ... no?  Never mind! Lol

Pretty sure I have seen a photo of it done..  can't think where.. possible! But requires dedication to task!

+1. There's a lot of custom work involved.

And exhaust lengths are engineered to produce the most amount of power for a usable rpm range. So a really short exhaust will actually leave you with less power. Unless you're drag racing, of course.

I think I saw a few picks where some one did it several years ago. But, he ended up doing all sorts of crazy pipe routing to get it there and added a bunch of weight while loosing performance.

That style pf pipe, in anything other than that Ducati 916 and its derivatives looked very tortured and contrived to me.
High up and far behind weight = worse than low down weight.

I dont believe it would add to much more weight like how much more? I say no more then 50 pounds and thats probably way over. How much does the stock exhaust weigh anyways?

I like this idea thanks janx101 I was thinking that the actual pipe itself shouldnt be very difficult its just a matter of going around things and making it look tight. But im surprised no one has metioned re jetting or valve adjustments. Thats where I would think things start becoming a pain in the ass. Am I right?

Looking closer at that pic though.... even the undertray/ shaped surround of the twin cans up under the seat..  that's special careful work right there!
