My bad memory... yep follower is what y'all said.... so what's the bit that sits on top of a magazine spring then? ... it has been nearly 20 years!

ragecage23

It's called a follower lol

Be aware, this is not very wise advise!

Oh man Slack, that's a tricky one!
Obviously aluminum, seems to be anodized.
Looks like some sort of mounting bracket.
I don't see threads in the center hole, so maybe a centering bushing of some sort?
Any of this on the right track?

Regarding the "follower" discussion, both the bolt follower and magazine follower are called followers.
The common phrasing is "Bolt Carrier" and "Magazine Follower", probably to avoid just such confusion. :)

Slack

It is aluminum and there are no threads in the center.

Ok,  so it supports something, 3 'legs' to seat into the thing it supports.
No thread centre. .. so it spins freely. ...

DJ turntable axle/support thingy...  (pintle?)

Elmojo

Yeah, I was hoping to get a photo or description from rage also.

I think the last piece was from a GLOCK.
I pulled out my cleaning mat with a G17 schematic on it and it was shaped the exact same, part #21.

NOTE: part #29 is a "follower", not a "magazine follower" hahaha!  :icon_twisted:
(I've always herd "mag. follower" and "bolt carrier" myself, but completely feel it doesn't matter. I just think it's funny that Glock just uses "follower".

Watcher is on the right track!!!

Yup, Glock indeed. A gem 3 G21 to be exact. And I KNEW it was just called a follower lol didn't want to start any trouble though.

Glock only calls it a follower (not magazine follower) because it doesn't have a bolt follower, hence no reason to specify.
On other platforms (AR for example) there are BOTH magazine and bolt followers.
Benelli shotguns also have bolt followers AND magazine followers. In that case, the bolt follower is a separate piece that adds weight and inertia to the bolt, smoothing operation.
In a shotgun (tube-fed type), the "magazine follower" is commonly called the plunger, for some reason.

I knew I had seen that part before! I was working on my Dad's Glock a while back. :)

This new part has me stumped.
Janx's guess of a turntable spindle seems reasonable...?

Watcher

Interesting.  So I wasn't really wrong that it was a slide rail, just got beaten to it (and beaten with a more specific answer).

The slide rail is different from the locking block. There are four rails embedded into the polymer frame that the slide, well, slides on. The locking block locks the slide back after an empty magazine.
