I am sick of people cutting me off because they are talking on their phone and then when I honk, they don't even hear me! I hate drivers on their phone so much. Sorry if this post seems aggressive, I just got cut off and almost hit (inches) and I'm sick of it. So, I have no idea what horns to get, how much they cost, and how to install them. If anyone could help me out, that would be great. Thanks

I found this and I guess it has all of the wiring. Any inputs? Thanks.

would you rather honk at them? or yell at them? LOL

I still gotta install a loud speaker [just look for retired police load speakers they use in their squad cars] then run a blue tooth receiver mic into your helmet. then you can pull up to someone and yell "GET OFF YOUR PHONE"

trust me I know the phone issue.. the people who do it around here are business trucks, lawn people w/ trailers mind you, taxi drivers of all sorts, and older folks normally driving a benz or something along those lines. I rarely see a young pup driving and on their phone. I actually had a cop almost run into me because he was too busy playing online poker on his squad cars computer...

Get one of the auto horns from Advance Auto, or some such place. One of the ones that has a small trumpet on it. They wire in the same as the stock "button" type, but are 10x louder. I think mine are Wolo brand.

Slack, no rewiring was needed? Just plug and play?

Walker, trust me, she heard me at the stop light. She was on Bluetooth on her phone and the person she was talking to definitely heard me too.

I'll look into the snail horn. Anyone have a link?

yeah for the most part you don't need to re-wire. But I'm not 100% because more power needed = thicker wire needed. and the wires are pretty thin on the horn end of things.

here is one
As long as you pick up a horn with 2 spade connectors, like this one, there is NO rewiring: just unplug and unbolt the old, then bolt in and plug up the new.

I'm all for the loud horn and everything because sometimes, damnit, bad driver's gotta get woken up.

But at the same time, in recent times my horn isn't necessary as a wake up call and more of an "excuse me" or "the light's green" kind of horn.

What changed?  My riding habits.  Drivers are just as bad, and I've realized that drivers aren't going to get better, and even if you wake one up there are still thousands on the road no better.
Then I realized that it was me cutting it close that was inviting the close calls.  So now I give drivers plenty of space, don't ride in blind spots, don't ride along side drivers, look for signs of lane changes, expect them to suddenly change speed/direction without signal or warning, and prioritize my safety over my spot in traffic, my right of way, and saving a few seconds getting to work.

In my first year of riding and over the course of two bikes I had more than a few close calls that I actually came out of with a realization that I could have died.  Not just gotten hurt, but DIED!
As a result I wised up and now I ride incredibly defensive (and a little aggressive if the situation calls for it), and haven't had a close call in years.

I'd still get an eardrum shattering horn down the line.  But a level head will always be the safer (and cheaper) course.

That is not the exact horn I have.
I have a Wolo model that looks identical. Wolo makes both a low and high pitch "snail" horn. I can't remember which one I got, I think the high.
It is very loud. Not super crazy air horn loud though (that's the next step up, which requires a small air compressor). IMHO it will wake up highway drivers, while not blowing people away down town (with quick blasts, not laying on it). Basically, the perfect balance, loud without being obnoxious.

I'm just curious in the whole amp thing because of that chart on wiki

The horn may be a bit louder with larger gauge wire. It may be a bit louder still with a dedicated relay and direct wiring. But it is certainly MUCH louder then stock with the stock wiring. Get one, they are less then $20, and try it out. And if you want it even louder still, we'll help you with rewiring it.

I use an air horn and it is louder than needed but I love to scare people anyway, especially if they are talking or texting on the phone.  It is about $30 and the whole thing is plastic including the bottle that holds the pressurized air.  I fill mine to about 90 pounds with my bicycle pump.  It will last about 20 full blasts and you pump it up again.  No wiring, just clamp on with included tie wraps or use your own.
The horn can be found on the internet at many places, here is the one I last found.  (Air Zound, 115 db, Horn)

That's a good idea, but I can't say I care for the execution. It would be ok for a bicycle, but I wouldn't want that hanging on my GS's bars.

Another good idea, which requires less horn tooting is HiViz clothing/helmet. It has made a huge difference in the number of close calls I have.

Definitely not putting that honkin thing on the bike haha! I still want it to look good!

I also have Valentino rossi's Ducati helmet so it is definitely a bright helmet!

I put this on my bike. It's plug and play. You will have to use the bracket it comes with because the wires will n  in an odd angel otherwise. This horn sounds a lot less wimpy than the stock one. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000DN7T3A/ref=pd_aw_fbt_263_3?refRID=1H4AS4NE2096WG9QSNFW
