I don't know if you were aware of this, I just found out today,  but shell has gas that does not contain ethanol - ideal for winter storage.

Remember it is the ethanol that attracts water in the tank and also damages the older rubber seals.

From their website.

Is Shell V-Power NiTRO+ premium gasoline safe for all vehicles?

Shell V-Power NiTRO+ is effective in all gasoline-powered engines found in conventional, modern and hybrid vehicles as well as motorcycles, snowmobiles, and leisure marine vehicles.
Shell V-Power NiTRO+ premium gasoline in Canada does not contain ethanol.

Also look here for a list of ethanol free gas stations.

Filled my car this AM with that gasoline, (as always) and noticed they had changed the sign on the pump, etc.
BUT in the U.S. it DOES contain up to 10% ethanol, unfortunately...
May be different in Canada, but in the US the pump clearly states that it may contain up to 10% ethanol. Sorry.
Your best bet is to always add an inhibitor of ethanol, especially if infrequent use is anticipated.

Just heard a report on the radio...The dumb-arse environmentalists finally just figured out that the production of ethanol, enough to replace 10% of all gasoline, actually fu--ks
up the environment far worse than actually the burning of that 10% gasoline!

Of course, the ethanol deal was purely political, and nothing scientific about it from the start...  Some deal to keep the corn farmers happy...

So maybe pure gasoline will be coming back to the USA??

Unfortunately, the politics is heavy when it comes to ethanol. I'm one of the people that sees zero benefits to adding it gasoline.

I followed the link from the puregas link to the closest station to me before. And it is towards a state park known for its great fishing. ... so the gasoline is only to be used in fishing boats and goes for about $7 a gaollon. Yes, I'm bitter.

Can the gs run on ethanol only? If not someone needs to modify a gs to be flex fuel capable. Now that would be awesome!

Big Rich

Can it? Sure. But there isn't as much energy in ethanol as gasoline. So you would need to deliver more fuel at all rpm ranges (much larger jets). And the carb bodies themselves may not deliver enough air for the increased fuel consumption. ... so changing carbs might be needed. And since you would be using more fuel per mile, you wouldn't go as far on a tank of ethanol.

Not arguing with you directly Rich. .. but guy I know has a WRX setup dedicated for weekend track racing.... he had something done to the car so it would run on e85.... and gained about 12% in power? ... so... how do that?! , I don't know if his fuel usage is higher but I do know it makes more power

He has his own workshop dyno (4wd style too!) And I've seen the test runs!

.... or... afterthought... maybe e85 users are allowed more fueling/ boost because its "eco" ? ... I'll have to check into it more and report back.

It has a real high octane number, like much above 100 I think.
If you can feed enough of it (jets / powercommander / you get it), and you run higher compression / ign. advance, then the power gain is right there.
