i did a search, which brought up over 100 results, none of which had anything to do with high mount exhausts, so i'm not sure how that worked out, but i wanted to see if anyone had any experience with one, whether you bought it already a highmount, or had to make it yourself, this is the only bike i've found with one on it,

if i knew how to weld, i'd just buy some pipe, cut the stock one in half, and weld some more pipe in there, but it's not one of the skills i was gifted with, so i was curious if anyone knew a good place to start, or if i would just have to find someone with the ability to weld, and take my bike to them to see what they could do

the problem with a highmount on a gs500 is the passanger right footpeg.....you could cut it off but no passangers then, and another thing......the can would be really close to your ass and right leg so if you moved a little you could burn your leg

bluedevil

How would you burn your leg if the exhaust is way the heck back there.  I think there's a good enough distance between the seat and the highmount....unless who ever is doing the mounting doesn't have a clue about what they are doing.

on long rides i like to move around because the gs seat is uncomfortable

It is not a highmount but I am going to be making a tucked exhaust. I have a couple of M4 cans, which one will need to be shortened and use the Yosh header. The only part I will have to have fabricated is the mid pipe. The subframe will have to be modified as well. This is going to be on a race bike so the exhaust can will be under the seat cowl. The dyno results will be interesting.
Common sense in not very common.

The Antibody

Have you thought about a buell type exaust? right under the engine. that would be cool also.

yeah, i've always liked those too, if i can't figure out a good way to do the highmount, i may bring that up with heather(techinically her bike so i've gotta do whatever she wants), but she'd probably go for it, since i'm pretty sure she just wants the bike to be a little more individual, i need to get a new lightbulb for it, so while i'm at pepboys i wanna check the exhaust isle, i know they have all kinds of pipes and bent pipes and anything else you can imagine, so it may even be possible to buy the peices there, but i'll see how it goes, if i make all the peices i need, how much you think someone would charge me to weld it all?

ooh, and as far as the passenger and the footpeg brackets, her solo tail is scheduled to arrive tomorrow via UPS, so the lack of back seat will get rid of the need for the back pegs, if i figure out how to make the high mount, i could just chop them off and not care, dgyver, what kinda plans you got for that tucked exhaust? she's always liked those, it'd be real nice if i could figure out how to put one of those on, i just figured the normal high mount wouldbe easier cause it'd be less bent pipes

The problem most will have is that the exhuast can outlet will be right where the brake light is. I have played around with the layout a little but until I get the RGV swingarm installed, it will have to wait. The RGV swing arm is much taller so the routing will be tighter. Pretty sure that I will have to modify the sub frame even more. Since I have a stock bike, I can look at how it would fit with street gear. Not sure if there is enough room under the brake light but I will check into that.
