So I decided to clean my carb and check the valves on my GS500 and after putting everything back together (the vacuum lines on the carb are probably wrong which may explain the bad idle) I get smoke coming off the exhaust where it bolts onto the engine. Just a light white smoke and very rough idle. Maybe an hour later it doesn't smoke so I take it for a test drive and have it stall on me as I get out of the driveway. Now it won't stay on so after a few more tries I get it to start and just keep the throttle open so I can ride back home. When I get home I let it sit for another hour before starting it up and now I notice that I have strange noise coming from the engine

I checked the oil and there wasn't anything on the dipstick which was weird because I checked it the day before and it was full. I've filled it and it still makes the noise and I'm unsure of what this noise is as I've heard it in other youtube videos and some say it's normal. I know for a fact it wasn't doing this previously.
