Strange Engine Knock

The gaskets came off stuck to the covers in pretty good condition on my 100k mile GS when I pulled both lower engine covers.  I had the one on the left side off twice and didn't have a gasket so I spread a thin coat of green Permatex on top of the gasket and put it back on both times without any leakage.  Green and red Permatex their original products, green for oil and red for water seal.  Numbers 1 and 2, been using them for over 65 years, not familiar with your modern product.   :icon_lol:
407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average.  Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.

I don't mind waiting for the gasket to arrive now, looks like a magnet has come off on the magnetic rotor, the epoxy is gone aswell.
The loose magnet sits in place nicely just needs some epoxy.
Can i add some epoxy to the magnet or is it recomended to buy another magnetic rotor.
I live in country Western Australia so parts aren't very common here.

Seeing as everything's oil soaked I would be hesitant to glue it back on. Maybe if you use a wire wheel and brush both sides down to remove any oil impregnated layer. I'm not sure which epoxy one can get that I'd hot oil resistant.  For gaskets buy a sheet of gasket paper and make your own. But beware of special oil channel holes. Make sure you copy the old one.

Bit of an update, i have been reading on other motorbike forums about expoxying the magnets back on a flywheel with some say don't and some say do but no one has said that it's failed so.
I shopped around for some jb weld (here in oz it's not easy to find) cleaned everything with brake cleaner and JB Welded the magnet in so let you know in couple day how things go, waiting for chain and sprockets now.

Also sourced some new starter clutch bolts as they were that loose the threads were gone. So hopefully when put back together no more knock.

OK Wasn't happy enough with the jb weld so scrap the old flywheel and looking for a replacement.
The flywheel i have is off a 2004 gs500F but the only one i can get in perth is off an older 90s model gs500. Do any of you guys know if the 90s flywheel will be the same as the one i have before i go 300kms to go and see it?
Thanks

You redline it ?
You may have a loose cam chain (other than the 2 options suggested so far )...
Or you could also have an exhaust leak ...
Or an intake leak ...

Misfires can knock things loose as can an instance of redline ...

Cool.

Wait, redlining a motorcycle can cause things to be loosened out of norm?

Why do I ride then... ugh.

Boet iv got a 95 500e and I'm running a gs1000g rotor on it, iv also got a gs 500f in pieces and there doesn't look like there's any difference in the rotors, I'm fairly certain that you shouldent have a problem
if you plan to fail do you still fail to plan?

Dude its called redline for a reason ... Once ina while accidental redline like if you miss a shift is one thing ... but if you're hitting redline regularly ... buy a different bike .... or learn to ride better ... or shift up or shift better or something. The accidental missed shift should be a once in a life time thing ... or atleast once in a decade thing on the same bike.

Cool.

Lekker man, I am in Gangsters Paradise :)

Bought the flywheel from the wreckers and installed it.
Put everything back together, new oil, syched carbs and shimmed valves, the bike sounds great, no knocks or rattles . Only thing haave to do now is adjust the new chain.
