Hey, went for first ride after putting the bike back together from changing valve shim and flywheel and new chain and sprockets.
Seems to idle well and ride well but when i give it to her through the gears above 5000rpm it surges and i have to back right off on the throttle.
I have checked to make sure theres no kinks in hoses and it does it regardless on petcock position so its not that.
Any ideas?

Surging is usually a lean fuel condition.

Also check that the air filter is not restricted. It may be too RICH, not too lean. I have had EXACTLY this problem and it was a blocked air filter that looked OK.

Thanks guys, problem solved.
fuel lines didn't seem right so i replaced them and opened the mixture screws underneath half a turn, run sweet now.
Just not sure about 14 tooth front sprocket, great acceleration but crap on hwy now.

Glad that it is now fixed.
I run an 18t front sprocket and 37T rear. Take off is a little slower but it is great on the freeways.  :thumb:
