Hey Guys,

I'm new to the forum and just recently became the owner of my first bike 2006 GS500.

I'm looking to replace the air filter unit in this bike and would like to know if the K&N Lunch box air filter fit the 2006 GS500.

Thanks.

Yes, I have that is my 2006/2007 GS500F. Be prepared to rejet the carbs and tinker with the fuel/air mixture screws if you do get it though.

Sounds like a good way to screw up a perfectly good bike!

Just sayin'

So is it better if I just get the K&N air box filter. Do I still have to do a Rejet?

thanks in advance.

any change in air intake will require a rejet.

just get the lunch box and an exhaust. Then PM buddha and get the correct jet kit for the carbs.

The Project bike owns you!

Use that filter. It makes life so much easier to not have to deal with the stock air box every time the tank is off. The time spent rejetting will be saved over 10 fold down the road.

Be aware, this is not very wise advise!

I remember looking into that filter for my 09, doesnt it pose a problem on the newer bikes?
Dont the first generation models have some sort of carburettor support bracket, that the last generation did away with in favor of an airbox designed to hold the carbs up?
Or am I thinking of a different bike? Its very possible, there's alot of bikes floating around in my head.
