Okay sounds good! Im not sure if you already said this in the thread, but what size metal tubing and wall thickness is the subframe? I want to make one with tabs like that so I can switch out the subframe. I am planning on making it a track bike and would like to be able to change the subframe if I crash or anything and bend the subframe.

trying to keep it a secret lol as we maybe making a flat track subframe as well and possibly making this a "weld on" kit.

Tell you where to cut and what to weld on. Or send your frame in and get it welded up.

I see. I bet a couple people would want to do that! Well on that note... What size tubing and wall thickness would you "recommend?"  ;) Im just currently looking so I can get a material cost... This way you aren't exactly telling me what size, just recommendations  ;)

I recommend using "roll bar" piping

Wow! It's amazing! I love how it opened up the rear end (no dirty comments please. I don't know how else to word it) I'm not a huge fan of a cafe racer style GS, but this makes me love them!!! It looks amazing! Nice work!

here are some more pics for everyone. all my electronics are bolted to my custom battery box, good way to keep the wiring all unseen.

still waiting on a speedo cable and i need to wire in the front turn signals. but she runs, rides, and is faster than a Vulcan 750 in a drag race!
Found that out today lol

I love the way it looks, but i may have over reached with the rear shock upgrade... The katana shock is a bit stiff for my liking... might pick up an R6 shock

#1 The R6 shock looks badass!
#2 I love how much adjustability I have with my R6 shock!

I haven't tried the katana shock, but once I got my shock tuned for my weight, it was awesome!

I'm 170lbs and my settings are this.. (Maybe as a starting point for you)
Low speed: 15 clicks
High speed: 2.5 turns out
Preload: setting 5 on ramp
Rebound: 17 clicks

Very true. But I'm not sure if you know, but I recently converted my bike from an F to an E. How much weight did you lose off of the tail???

if i had to guess 15LBS were lost from the tail.

That still is a lot of weight to drop from a bike! All these people are spending loads of money on titanium bolts and lightweight parts. You just chop the tail haha. (Still wasn't cheap though) I love your bike!

Janx101

The R6 shock certainly looks more 'action' than the katana... and has more adjustments available. ...

Looks aside though...

r6 for mid weight riders or maybe medium/heavy at most

Katana for heavy riders or those with HUGE luggage loads

I've mentioned it before but I'm over 300lbs geared up, katana shock set to pre load #1 is comfy/soft/daily usage for me with no bottoming out. .. tried setting #5 when first installed and while still rideable for me it was a bit harsh on the tail bone on normal roads.... if I were going to track it then would be close to ideal

Sub 200lbs riders with no significant luggage weight are going to find a katana shock HARSH on the bum! They are deceptively stiff for a gs500 weight bike!

GS500Schultz

and I can't use the R6 shock because of my custom battery box.

I'm going to set the Katana shock to the softest setting possible

The Buddha

I'd say sub 175 lb, though I haven't been sub 175 in 25 years. So no clue. Yes set the spring to the softest, and rebound also to very low. 1 or 2.

Cool.
Buddha.
