So here's the issue I got this gs500 for pretty much free guy said it needed the carbs cleaned so today I had some free time I cleaned the carbs but I think I may have did something wrong because its worse the it was I have the front tank line going to the reserve the back line going to the on and the prime to the carb I have the side vaccun line of the carb going to the petcock the t on the gotten of the carb to the prime the t on the top of the carb is open I don't know I something was there or missing also have the one line on the tank witch I believe is the breather? Running down to nothing it wont run in on position but it will on reserve gas level is good its pretty much full when I give it gas it bogs down then will pick up randomly just trying to get everything right ita my only transportation at the moment

If it runs in "reserve", but not in "on", and you KNOW you have a full tank of gas, then you have a clog. The easiest part of the system to check is the line between the petcocks; take it off and make sure you can blow through it. If that isn't it then it's either clogged in the tank petcock, or the frame petcock. Search and you will find threads about disassembling and cleaning both.
Once you have it running in on and reserve you can see if other problems are still present.
Does it run any differently in prime then reserve? (Don't leave it in prime when parked).

Be aware, this is not very wise advise!

When it was in prime and I would try to rev it if I slowly revved it it would go to like 5k and die I I tried to rev fast it would just die in reserve is the only time its drive able

first off welcome to the board and i hope we can help you get your bike rideable but your posts are very hard to read you should use punctuation it would make it much easier for people to try to decipher what your saying after so many runon sentences you eventually just get brain tired and are concentrating more on what your trying to say then what your bike is doing it is very odd that it would run better in reserve then prime prime is reserve and on at the same time without any vacuum needed by the frame mounted petcock im having a hard time thinking of any situation where this would happen of course i didn't understand your description of which lines are run where since it was written so poorly did you hook them all back up exactly where they came from i suggest you take it all back apart and double check everything most times when i take something apart and reassemble it and it doesnt work properly a second look will reveal some silly small error you know it had to be something you just did since it ran better before you cleaned the carbs speaking of which what did you use to clean them what was your exact method you also might as well mention what year your bike is since not all gs500s use the same carbs what country do you live in do you know if the bike was original to that country how drivable is it in reserve how drivable was it before you cleaned the carbs did all petcock settings work before you cleaned the carbs is the bike bone stock do you know the guy who gave you this bike for a song and i dont want to hear about how english isnt you first language all languages use punctuation you havent even used a single period in any of your posts so far since joining this board
