No matter what i do to it, it's still a GS
It's not how fast your bike is, it's how long you are prepared to hold the throttle on.

Hi John, seems to be a forum-wide issue.  Ive switched to some web hosting services to upload pics now.

It used to get mentioned semi frequent. .. the accepted and perhaps polite way to show pics on this forum is to host them on your own account in photobucket or imgur etc and either direct link into your messages OR use the mona Lisa icon above the smileys section in compose message. .....

The site.... while full of wonderful info and help.... does not have the server resources to hold everyone's endless images. .. like FB etc does....

Its usually simple and free to store a whole heap of image on a 3rd party site and very easy to link the images in "most of the time" ...

Cheers! :thumb:

From the quick comparison I made, for quick uploads, imgur seems to have the best policies as far as keeping the image available long term. I was using tinypic, but with no loads after some period of time (60days?), it deletes the picture.

i use photobucket. not a problem there. (or here)

The only thing I've noticed with Photobucket is that the user can move/delete pictures, killing the link. Here's an example, the photobucket image was moved, leaving this: http://wiki.gstwins.com/index.php?n=Upgrades.Petcock I like the idea of either the forum or so something more independent (like imgur) as the host that won't as easily disappear. Who knows though, imgur might fold next year and all the pics I uploaded will disappear.

Ok, thanks everyone. I'll try photobucket, Im not great with computers so ill see how i go.
I have made heaps of progress on my bike and would like to show it off, even if some think it looks crap.

tbh not familiar with imgur. at all. ive been posting here since uploadit.org which was also the host of my first photochop war. ( the buddha sitting on a harley) and also the host of the pics of frankenbike my first gs from '03. when uploadit folded ( i think) i thought i lost those forever but i found 2 backups. an HDD from that time and surprisingly a working cdr. which i made copies of. ok ramble off. reason i mention this is because you may wish to make backups. or have an extra photobucket acct to archive with. ( i run 2) just dont forget where the backups are lol.

I used imgur for the first time today.  I just signed in with my Google credentials and that was easy.  I like that I can drag n drop images, that's pretty simple.  The site has easy to use links too, just copy the BBC link to the right of the pic and it comes with the correct IMG tags for use in your forums posts.

Way easier than faffing about with Google photo.
