My ortho surgeon said after more than likely ORIF SURGERY ON LEFT ankle now, and issues with non union on right, got to look at possibility of being off my feet for 3 mos minimum. asked me to look at short term rental of a power chair so i can get out. said if i find one he would fill out cert. of need and blue cross would cover it   at 100% :). so things are looking up, now granted asking wheelchair questions on a moto forum is kinda weird. but i figure everyone here has known someone using one. that being said, i dug around and found this chair and they DO short term rentals. of less than 6 mos. my transportation is in a compact suzuki reno. a hatch. my manual chair takes up more room than this thing would. this albeit slow at 5mph but having a range of 15 miles is perfect.  thoughts or suggestions? or different ones to look at? going to get process rolling after appt monday. heres the one ive got my eye on. called a KD smart chair. wieghs 45-50lbs lithium ion batteries etc.

any orther suggestions would be welcome. im well within range for this chair. and transport is the factor for further distances. i.e. would it fit in a compact hatch. my insurace will cover rental/purchase of pretty much any model including this one, main thing being ease of loading into hatch by one person. suggestions much appreciated.

i told doc about the alternative of a bone stimulator he was slightly intrigued.  after setting up the jbl northridge setup and sub , i move chair fwd a foot, doc said this would work until stim unit would arrive if it would be a benefit. ( wouldnt hurt even if they persue other options. ) but i run a 30hz or lower for 20 minutes a bass track a test tone, ortho  thought why not. i did this with a song i had, stodd in the sweetspot of subwoofer. the sub bass freq. i feel  in fracture zone. takes pain away. all in all even if bad things happen, i see good things too :). today was fun. got info i can use , got directions to look in. and goals to  accomplish. today i finally felt as though ive accomplished something. i could have put this in the doc thread, but for the most part, totally different subject matter. ( even though core was same thing lol)

The Buddha

My friend the chiropractor/audio nut said you need very high freq - over 10k Hz to do stim work.

Low freq is high current, high freq is lower current but rapidly reciprocating pulses. You are burning yourself without electrocuting yourself when you should be electrocuting yourself without burning yourself. His words. Odd for a chiropractor to say that. But he's one weird puppy.

Hey I have this little thing - like a cigarette box with adhesive pads that you glue onto yourself and it sends something like an electric shock - I don't recall the name of it now - but I'll tell you this evening. I used it before my foot surgery. Fat lot of good it did - LOL. The Surgery worked like a peach though.

Cool.

That's a TENS unit Buddha :) ... they can be effective but placement is important,  get professional to do/show where to start with then copy at home, intensity levels should be adhered to also.

The basically just 'white noise' the nerves for a temporary pain reset in this usage.

yeah a tens unit. got one of those myself. i knew i had the numbers off a bit. but FWIW it alleviated the pain. more work to be done on both sides over next few weeks.
