Yup, that's a Mustang. Did it at least make it to your driveway......before you install 40,000,00 watts of rally lights on it? :dunno_black: :icon_lol:

Sorry, I couldn't resist poking.
Why are you looking here?

Janx101

C'mon Plisky! ... that's not right! ... you mean Lumens. ...

40,000,00 Lumens! !

That many watts would weigh down a whole stadium! :thumb:

Planning on putting some fogs on it. It has LED fogs but they're not very...impressive. Looking to put the Roush lower grille in...

Yeah that's what I'm planning on doing honestly. The car is fun enough as-is. The fog lamps/grille isn't going to affect the warranty.

So I'm approaching the 1,000 mile mark on the Mustang. Enjoying it a lot more than I expected, and I expected a lot. Per the usual with American cars, there are some relatively minor fit & finish issues with the interior. Mainly, the cup holders are slightly askew but again, it's minor.

The quality of the Mustang has improved dramatically in the last few years; the pinnacle of improvement coming in 2015. In years past, the interior was generally lackluster and frankly "cheap" - even on the GT Premium models. The new 6-speed Getrag transmission, though made in China (ugh), is a vast improvement over the previous 5-speed. Shifting is smooth and easy, albeit somewhat vague. In corners the car tracks well and inspires confidence, likely due to the new independent rear suspension and overall improvements.

The Mustang uses electrically-assisted steering and has adjustable steering weight. Even though there are 3 different modes, I would have preferred a greater gap between the modes; namely the "Sport" mode, which is the firmest of the 3 (Normal, Comfort, and Sport). It does not appear that the modes adjust the steering rate, which is unfortunate. It seems it would have been a relatively simple task to include that feature as well.

Ford did a good job of making all the technology and creature comforts readily accessible. However, there are minor annoyances that can't really be fixed. For example, the HVAC controls rely heavily on the touch screen. Fan speed, temperature, and a few others can be controlled via physical knobs and buttons. I would have preferred dedicated buttons and knobs for more "eyes off" control.

Another gripe that I have with the vehicle is the lack of a digital speedometer. Ford included a small screen between the tachometer and the speedometer. A bevy of information is available through this screen, including engine health monitors (cylinder head, intake, and even oil temperature), tire pressure, oil life, etc., but there's no option to have a simple digital speedometer. The positioning of the analog speedometer is such that it requires an inordinate amount of focus to read. Why they didn't include a digital speedometer is totally beyond my comprehension.

Overall I'd give it a 4.75/5 stars as it sits now. Minor annoyances aside, it is an excellent car and I'm quite pleased with the purchase.

Minor update...

I've just hit 1200 miles. Mine seems to be suffering from the dreaded 65-70MPH driveshaft and/or differential-induced vibration. It reminds me of my KLR in a way...vibration so intense the mirrors are useless. Thankfully it only affects the rear-view and not the side-views. What's even better is there's no TSB on this issue, and most dealers seem to give the typical BS response of "could not reproduce" or "expected behavior".

I'm going to call around and see if I can find a dealership that's dealt with this issue before. I'm not wasting my time chasing a fix.

In other news, I've got a full cat-back exhaust system coming and I should have that installed soon. Should see 20-30 more HP and torque, if what people are saying is true.
