Thanks for the reply mate, what year and did was it a direct bolt on?

the shock I went with was from an 09  but I think 08-14 were the same.  It has the red spring and is fully adjustable.

It may be bolt on but I had the bike apart so I took a grinder to the swing arm pivot area to clear a little extra room as i read somewhere that someone had a little bit of rub with spring and swingarm.  i was not aggressive at all and doubt that i could have taken off more than 2 mm though...otherwise direct swap with stock unit.

what sag number are you getting (rider weight/preload position/sag amount) and is there a change in ride height?  thanks!   smile

I used an 06/07 R6R rear shock on mine, which was pretty bolt on--the real trick is making sure the mounting on the top and bottom match your bike--check the bottom of this post:

There's a little rubbing on the air box and spring coating, but otherwise it wiggles into place (elevate the centerstand a little, it'll help give you some extra clearance).  Make sure you get one with the linkage, so all the pins and bolts have the rights spacers, or you'll end up sourcing them separately.  I can't give you sag numbers, but I got good support without maxing the preload, and being able to adjust damping really helps the bike track like a champ over bumpy corners.

EDIT:  Saw this today:

Does this go for the 89-00 models as well or are you strictly talking about the new years?
