 :woohoo: I'm back, baby!

Ok, give this one a gander....earplug for scale only, unrelated to the function of the item.

edit: if anyone can show me how to get that link to display inline, I'd love to know.

Pressure release/safety valve?

Elmojo

Negative to both of those. Good guesses, though.

Poppet valve.  Pneumatic.  Like for a paintball gun?  Mounts in a tube, screw sets it in place.

Or possibly a pressure regulator.

I went ahead and downloaded then hosted the image myself.  Here y'all go.

Thanks for hosting Watcher. What's up with the image posting on this site anyway? It's been broken forever!

Nope, not a valve or any sort of pneumatic (or hydraulic) anything.

@Hupjai: That's just lint from the environment, this particular earplug has never been used. The silicone material just grabs everything.  :flipoff:

Now now, those aren't the kind of questions you can ask.... lol
That being said, you're SO close.
There's not a bearing IN it, per se...

Hard drive actuator arm bearing/piviot axis

If I'm right I'll pass to whoever calls next.

*Ding Ding Ding* Spot on!
Methinks you've seen one of those before...

Ok, someone take it away...

Watcher

Damn, it's so obvious now...

That's the trouble with these things, once you hear what they are, it's usually a 'duh' moment.
I think you can take it if you want, pliskin said to pass it on to whoever has something to post.
You were awfully close when you asked about the bearing.

Looks like a thermal fuse

Seeing that I just put one on cloths dryer a few months ago I would say you are right.

I guess it's my turn... I don't have anything interesting and/or obscure at home, so I'll post a pic when I'm at work later.
