I'm now officially a Motorcycle Safety Foundation certified RiderCoach!

Spent every day off for the past month in classes with 10 other candidates, which culminated with a weekend outside in the pouring rain, in 40-50 degree Fahrenheit weather, student teaching actual novice riders.  I'm exhausted, chilly, and a little soggy, but in the end I got my cert, most of the students passed, most of the other candidates passed, and I was told by our instructors that I had a natural talent for it and they both looked forward to teaching classes with me as their co-coach!
I was flattered!

So I immediately got a job offer from them on behalf of the university that hosts the program, and once that all goes through I can start bidding for classes to teach!

The only reason I have for going to Wrigley Field, or rather Wrigleyville,  is that half a block away is an awesome burger joint called Salt & Pepper.
I've gone to a few games because when I was a child I was sorta into baseball, my aunt was the only family member who was also into baseball, and she was a Cubs fan.  And going to a ball game is going to a ball game, right?
But I've also been to as many Sox games, and more so by choice.
On paper I'm a Sox fan, and I DO live on the south-side, but in reality I'm not much of a sports guy in general so I honestly don't give a crap.  Both teams are doing well this year, so I'll cheer for Chicago.  If it comes down to Sox vs Cubs at any time I'll vote Sox.  But I'm not going out of my way to see any games.

Thanks man!

Hiring process was a little lengthy, so I only just completed it a day ago or so.  Once I get a first aide certification I can officially start teaching!

We'll see how it goes.  Right now my day job and the curriculum schedule both run in such a way I basically need to use PTO to teach, but the curriculum is supposed to change over sometime during the season or at the latest starting next season.  When it changes over it drops a whole day from the schedule, and it'll be a lot easier.

But at the same time I'm starting to get a little unhappy with my day job at the liquor store.  I'm on the edge of being overworked.  I'm losing a key coworker from my department, and when that happens I'll be basically alone in my department and my department does almost 50% of the whole store's business.  They've been promising me help, but nobody gets bumped up to full time, all the part timers who can help out spend 75% or more of their time working registers or cleaning the store instead, and although they bumped up one girl to my department and promised me I could train her on ordering and stuff, she instead spends most of her time acting as a manager at the front of the store and trains new hires and stuff instead.  So they promised me I'd get her help, went as far as moving her position on the schedule to reflect her being in my department, then immediately reassigned her to a different task...

If I can't get help this summer I'm seriously considering stepping down to a part-time position.  I don't want the entire weight of my department resting on me, and it's basically guaranteed to happen because the rest of the employees are incompetent enough to not be relied upon.  If I need an order done, if I need the warehouse reconfigured, if I need a display built, I have to do it or it either doesn't get done or gets done so half-assed I have to redo it anyway.
Everyone else is just good for stocking and somewhat helping customers, but even so on busy days a good chunk of my time is spent being called to help an employee helping a customer...

We'll see how long I last.  The light at the end of the tunnel is the awesome full-time benefits package I have, but if I can live lower stress by working 2 part-time jobs instead, and if finding my own health insurance works out mathematically, I'd rather do that.

Best case scenario, I have an opportunity to get hired by the college full time and can just quit my day job entirely, but no such opportunity exists right now.
