Just a quick update !

So far have had a custom front axel made up;;; waiting for the enite new front end to be returned to me from the machinesst who has knocked it up for me.

I am having trouble with electronic LED Flashers after updating all the lights to nice cafe-racer-esque LED lights, but hopefully with a new fflasher on the way from ebay and the Diode mod it will resolve this ;

Had a very unffortunate turn of events and dropped the lovely new painted Fuel tank and scratch the heck out of it :/ was not fun at all ! - but that was awhile ago;

Things outstanding
-Exhaust fix up (have ordered a delv header system online with a muffler style to be soldered on when it arrives that i like)
-Electronics (have a Koso tacho, now just looking for a nice Speed (need an elec pick up one) that will match nicely)
-Seat (my god cusstom made seats are a project all by them selves
-Front end, hopefully soon resolved
-Tune!!
Then to Ride and have a fantastic time!

Hoping to see the end of thiss project but its just growing and growing each time!

More photos to come :)

It has been awhile since an upload! however I have not been idle at all -

I have moved house, had 2 cars written off, bought a subaru outback, which then proceeded to break its gearbox and in the process of letting that slowly die until I can replace it. However this motorbike has been underway and things have been happening !

Whats been happening that you might ask?
Well!! not the seat, thats a project just a little way to far off at present, however the structual stuff to the bike is underway! i have bought a Tig welder and doing a bit of learning on that how to use it and what not in readyness to weld and bend some components for the frame.

Other things have happened though, front end is built and on, handle bars, basically all I wanted to do on the front minus a speedo set up. Starts, runs, indicators are on and replaced with LED/Loadresistors, and yeah looking good -

Main build log will be updated soon! with photos!

Another week and another post - This couple week project has ended up taking quite some time and be rather costly, ust like any good do it yourself project I suppose -

If anyone wants to know about the torch, its a couple pipe pieces witha  brass nipple run through the middle of the back and a very small hole in it, then uses the lovely venturi effect to draw in air through itself to become essentially a small jet engine, heats up things nicely -but wasnt able to get a nice U bend in it, one down side of the GS is all this square tube :/ but hopefully be able to get some sqaure tube and weld it in nicely !

Hpe eveyrone is enjoying this thread so far..

Another month down on this 3 - 6 week project (HA) and a little more achieved ! , lights are on and looking good I must say !

but more to do, more to get done :S , currently perplexed with how im going to mount the newer GSX 750 suspension system with the Tank, hmm have to find a hole for it somewhere.. anyone had any good spots for similiar upgrades?

Anyway ! additions added to the main thread ! will keep posting as the project trucks along !

thoughts?

Ok a few things.
First where in Aus are you?
You will need a bigger piston front master cyl/lever for the dual discs. I have one that I bought then decided to stay with one disc if you want to buy it cheap . It has 10mm coarser threads though NOT the fine ones.  New with  17mm piston ( I think). It's on the bike at present but I have to change to my new 14mm piston set.
The front LED's could be a problem because they use a weird differential voltage method. LED's are voltage direction sensitive so have a little hissy fit. I had a problem after I put the electronic dashboard ( acewell) on and had to rewire so the blinkers were direct fed and the dash indicator was fed FROM the blinkers to earth. Std wiring gave one side worked fine and the other didn't work at all if I remember but not sure now.
Have fun with the build. Got mine off Gumtree as well. Was straight but all the non-motor stuff was such poor condition.  Been running it as a modernization project. My thread is the Bundy one in projects.

I actually brought a complete Clyinder, dual disk, leaver and all the like off a Suzuki GSX 650 F 09, and it went on in place not a problem ! , the calpiers did have to have a little work to run smoothly through the ducati front dual disk wheel , but hey! works a treat now!

Dont, even, talk, about, bloody stupid, wiring. I went and did the diode mod which I think is what you are referencing ? which, yes , I had to do that as well to make it work, but fortunatly front and back LEDs work great :D, just yeah, needed Diode and Load resistors to have it work nice..

Cheers ! ill have a look :D

Tassie...LUCKY BUGGER!!!!!
Re the blinkers. Yeah that was the same . Rear worked fine and the front only has a weird differential wiring so one worked ( sort of), and the other not at all. Disconnected the wiring it use to power the dash indicator light and bleed straight to it from BOTH indicators to each of the 2 dash indicator lights to earth.

+1, or in case you are not talking about what I call "fenders", I would really like it if someone could point out what fenders are on that first (show bike) picture, especially the rear fender and tail light. That's legit. The front fender is a little dinky but the rear is something my bike needs bad.

Last update for the Year!!

this makes pretty much 12 months into a 3 month project! wooo-hoo ! Overtime and over budget, like a good project should be!

More photos showing the progress, seat it in the provess of being made, new spring is in, sea latch and key release welded in - all the electronics are done and the like! it is getting closer and closer !

Biga800

More progress being made ! really getting through it this time round haha,

Seat is off to the local seat guy, and jiggering together a way for the speedo to work, now just to put some thought into how I am going to get those nice looking mud gaurds the bike im modelling off has.. hmm  Any ideas anyone???  :bs: :bs:  :dunno_black:

Biga800

MORE UPDATES ! YAY :D  .. its like im finally achieving something  :D :D

I now an key and ignition bolted together which ! A GSX650 triple will take a GS500 key (with some drilling  :icon_lol:) and the steering lock will still work..  AND my hall effect senser is in the bike :D...  now to figure out how to run the cable nice and neat on the bike so it doesnt look bad.... Something ive decided I want to do as well is bore a hole in the oil sump and install the oil sensor that comes with the bike.. It just annoys me that the Tacho has a line of --------- where a temp sensor would be .. so gonna fix it !!

Hope everyone elses 2017 projectsis going well !

Biga800

Finally have the seat on ! woohoo !! made up and leathered and done.. not to expensive either and a lot more comfortable then the original... Little shorter then I had hoped but its on.. will see about maybe filling that space.. or maybe the mudgaurd I make up will dull off that area...

Next I have carbon fibre fabric and hardner coming in.. and will have to make up some molds to get the fenders done right... that will be an interesting weekend when I finally have some time free !

Biga800

Another update ! slowly getting through this job -

Have now made a small alumnium heatsink/bracket mount the rectifyer on to under the seat, still have no idea how to approach the fenders although now I have Carbon fibre and resin to ponder over..

Also the bike now no longer runs for some reason   .. worked fine a month or so ago, now will not start.. turns over.. have spark.. have fuel.. have the same cold compression readings I had when it was running  :dunno_black: .. just now will not fire :( .. time for a mechanic I thin  :cry:k..

Also just so everyone knows.. I update the first (and third because I hit the word limit) post I made with all new photos and this is really just a cheeky bump to update the log :P

Please I want to hear peoples advice! ideas, critisims and all others !

Cheers!
