Hey guys, I've recently installed an LED globe into my E model GS. I can't for the life of me get to turn on. The only time it does is when I hit the pass switch :cookoo:
If I'm not riding it, I'm fixing something or making it cooler...... Kinda

Guessing;if the high and low beams work(mark the active contacts) when the globe is out of the bike determine the correct wires in the headlight shell and see if they correspond.
If not then POSSIBLY reversing the headlights active wire connections will work.
Be careful....DON'T short out anything.

The high and low don't work at all. Only the high when the pass switch is hit. Wondering if I stuffed my rectifier

Test the bulb out of it's socket(mark the high/low beam active terminals).......compare them to the sockets active high/low wiring terminals.

I'm pretty sure you didn't damage your rectifier. But I don't understand how the high and low beams don't work, unless the pass switch is hit? That makes it sound like the high beam does work.....

Maybe I'm just confused?

There is a wiring or switch furphy! .. multimeter time!

The problem must be my own doing. I replaced the controls. Should've gone OEM but went down the eBay road. These controls looked exactly the same but had a few extra wire and opposite inputs for the throttle side, so I married the shinny new plastic controls with the original looms. I'm about to rip apart the dimmer, indicator switch to see if I screwed up there. I wonder if I put the wrong yellow wire on the pass switch, that might explain why the hi beam comes when I hit that switch. All the wiring diagrams look the same

Oh no, I've seen some disturbingly bad switch gear come out of eBay.

The lights run off the battery, if your battery is charged then disconnecting your rectifier or having a blown one shouldn't make a difference in turning on the headlight.  When your rectifier goes your battery does not charge anymore and running the bike will drain the battery after a few minutes.

Don't feel stupid! .. every new thing has a learning curve... and this is learning!

Search, locate, rectify! ... and you will gain insight as to how the bits work at the same time! ... plus satisfaction of doing it by your own hands!

Everyone here has made some stuff up or other with their own bike.... don't stress over an error, remedy it! :thumb:

Remedy I did. Pulled the switch apart and noticed poor connection. Problem solved and good God its bright.
