Looking for advice on a new cafe build...

Hello everyone and good evening. Not a frequent poster here but a very frequent lurker, and know there is good advice to be found here! I began a naked conversion a few years ago and my finished build was listed here: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=62337.0

I've recently gotten restless again and wanted a change, so decided to see what I could do to modify the bike further. What you see is where I've gotten! I have been able to get by for the most part but have a few questions and need some feedback.

1) What's the best way to secure the seat to the frame? I'm not much of a welder and I'm renting currently, so can't really store that kind of equipment. This may also include relocating the battery somewhere if I need to get the seat flush with the frame.
2) What can be done to move the wiring and relays? Is there a suggested area I can tuck them out of the way?
3) Rear mudguard. I don't plan to do any wet riding but would like to have something over the wheel. I've seen similar builds that look very successful but was hoping someone may be able to recommend a guard that will fit, and the best way to mount it.

Getting an error when I try to attach a photo of my bike so here is a link to Google Photos where I have it set to public: https://goo.gl/photos/c62sCivgpSRyMrGK8

Just some points you may be able to use.
If you go to pods for the carbs you can remove the airbox. That will give you a heap of space extra as the pods draw from the sides and you can put a battery up close to them.
If you use a LiFePO4 battery it is lighter smaller AND doesn't care about orientation so it is much easier to find a spot for it. If you put it under the rear of the seat make sure you use high enough current wiring.
It's not just wet weather you need a longer back for. The rear tyre will chuck stuff onto your back with a seat that short including any oil or tar from the road ( as well as anything even less pleasant that may be deposited there). If you make the back LOOK shorter while still being long enough it may be a bit more functional.

Ghand - Check out Endopotential's build, he's did a great job with the tail.

Question for you, why did you change to the round light from the stock F headlight in such a short timeframe? I read a few of your posts.

Hi ghand!! Nice update, looks much better with a round headlight IMO.

Thinking about the rear tire/wheel, maybe you could look into a hugger (like the Bandit 400 one that can be modified to fit the GS) and then extend it farther to cover more of the tire like with fiberglass or something... I am not sure what it would look like but it's the first thing that popped into my head. Not sure what else could be done really... but I agree with gregjet, you wanna keep stuff from flying up from that tire. Info about the hugger starts about halfway down the page:

Looking forward to your progress

Hi Ghand,

If you want some ideas, check out my build at the bottom of my signature.

Getting rid of the stock airbox and going with a K&N filter gives you a ton of space.  Depending on your exhaust, you'll probably have to change your carb jets though.

The new lithium batteries are tiny, and will also give you plenty of options.  Maybe my pics will give you some ideas on routing the wires.

Having the seat mount secure is definitely worth the trouble!  You don't want that shaking loose and flying off at 65mph...  If you get a rough idea of where you want it, just bring it to your local muffler shop to do some spot welds.  Should be relatively cheap.

Good luck, and show us more pics!
