Sorry for the light info... (this per-post verification thing is going to make me drink!  :technical: )

Anyway, my wife's dad's cousin brought it to me. He found it on CL or something and bought it solely to flip; he does full-up restorations on Corvairs as his post-retirement hobby. Wanted me to finish work he wasn't interested or didn't have the tools/experience to do. He's like 70-something, so he can afford to be picky on what he works on. :)

It had sat for about 3 years, so the fuel was shot, carbs were a gunky mess, needed a battery, oil was full of bad fuel, etc. He put a battery in it, rebuild the vacuum petcock, did some polish work on the paint, etc.

I changed the oil, rebuilt the carbs, flushed out the rest of the fuel hoses, etc., and got it running. We chatted about it, and I paid him about $150 more than he had into it total.

I finished getting it road-ready - flushed out the brake fluid, changed the fork oil, cleaned and lubed the chain, and fixed a few very minor things here and there. The bike is basically as clean as it looks.

As for Tires, I went with a Shinko 005 Advance 120/60 up front and a Shinko 006 Podium 140/60 out back. I've become a huge fan of Shinko tires and they're always my budget fallback when either the bike won't take Pilot Roads, or I (or whatever customer whose bike I'm working on) can't budget for the PRs. I first used Shinkos on my SV a few years back; tried out a set of V011 Verges after I had a failure on an Angel GT in the middle of nowhere. I loved how the tire felt. Since then, I've used 011s, 016s, 230s and 777s on all sorts of bikes, and they've always been very confident and consistent. This is my first time using an 005 or 006, so here we go.

The FedEx guy literally JUST dropped the front tire (I had to get up and fetch it while writing this posting), so I'll put that on today. I think the rear isn't due for another few days. I have a well stocked garage and do my own tires, etc.

Here's what the carbs looked like before I did the rebuild:

Turns out both tires arrived yesterday, almost a full week ahead of schedule, so I tossed them both on.
