I've started to try and figure out why my bike (92 gs)  has been loosing power and cutting out intermittently. I looked up a picture of the petcock on the gs and realized mine look nothing like them. What should I do about this?

That is some redneck rigging bud. Find out who did it and keep your bike far away from them.

I would start by... oh wait... first of all, welcome to the forum!

Ok so I would start by looking on ebay or the for sale section here... parts bikes threads! ...or motosport.com (or the like) for a stock petcock.

Then get some new fuel line (if you do a search on here it will turn up a ton of info on what kind and from where, etc because it's a debated issue on what works the best)... and thennnn use these corrected diagrams in this thread:

...for how to route the new fuel lines and cut them to the right lengths, to the stock/OEM petcock.
Superbike bars, '04 GSXR headlight & cowl, DRZ signals, 1/2" fork brace, 'Busa fender, stainless exhaust & brake lines, belly pan, LED dash & brake bulbs, 140/80 rear hoop, F tail lens, SV650 shock, Bandit400 hugger, aluminum heel guards & pegs, fork preload adjusters, .75 SonicSprings, heated grips

I was thinking about getting an oem petcock and fuel lines and doing it right just wanted to make sure I was headed in the right direction. It runs pretty well for how shite it looks. I mean I got it for a grand with 10,000 miles on it.

I did the vacuum delete but I did it much nicer and more factory looking. PO somehow managed to break the vacuum nipple on the left carb that controls the petcock. When I got the bike and it wasn't running, this was the death of me and almost my project bike. I figured $20 in hardware over a new half carb is a good day. When it's all said and done, the bike still works, I made do with what I was given and I just have to remember to turn off the gas which is habit now.

Just to throw my 2 cents in on the fuel lines.... I went with Tygon (which was recommended by a member of the forum here). Seems to be some pretty good stuff. Took a little bit of work to get it on the factory frame mounted petcock but it is stretchy.
I am an a**hole. I have accepted this, and come to peace with it

A guy at ace hardware sold me on tygon line a few years ago, he's a kart racer and seems to know his stuff. My jet ski has about 15 feet of fuel line on it, and whenever work is required, removing the tank and motor is the easiest option. So, when he said the line was more resistant to ethanol, I had hoped for a line which could be removed and refitted many times without cracking.

My experience with it is that tygon is tight and leak proof, although not nearly as flexible as other lines; i.e. it tends to flatten itself in bends. However, the biggest problem is that the entire line seems to harden over time, and more often then not requires cutting the ends to remove it. I have had this experience with both my two stroke ski, and a four stroke honda bike.

So thats my two cents, without trying to start a fuel line argument.

Also, I should mention, it is more expensive. Neat looking though, mine was a glossy black that kept looking good over time.

Edit; Also I have to say that my GS still has the factory line, which is your standard auto store black rubber fiber reinforced line, with 24k miles and 7 years of age. And Ive had the tank off A LOT in that time.
