Hey I need some help!
I have a 1993 gs500e and I want to get a new/used engine for it. I'm scared of buying one off eBay for the chance if getting a messed up engine.  Anybody have experience with buying an engine from eBay or does anyone have a website to buy one from?  Thank you in advanced

Very difficult when you dont know the history and cant hear it running. Maybe you could find one at a breakers prepared to give a minimal warranty, say 3 months. You are looking for one from a low milage insurance write-off but even then you have to be wary. Accident damaged clutch/flywheel/cranks can be hidden with new covers and if the engine has been running on its side following a drop internal parts could have been starved of oil.

Well maybe you or someone else can try and diagnose my problem.
I bought It a week ago for 500$. And it ran smooth up until 2days ago.  It won't start now but before it didn't start it would and when I get up too 6k rpms it starts sputtering.  And if I give it gas any higher then 6k it backfires and sputters or just completely dies.  This is my first motorcycle and I really don't know anything about mechanics or fixing.  I was just gonna buy a new engine and hope it fixes my problem 😂
But it could be the carbs i have no clue
I love the bike just the issues it has I don't love

Is your tank full of fresh gas?
If yes, a carb cleaning would not hurt.

Ride it like a 2 stroke:
1: Rev high
2: Add oil
3: Repeat

Yes it's was a fresh tank of gas and the previous owner did the floats and needles for the carb.  So I really don't think it's a carb issue

Not to sound cynical,  but i rarely take at face value what a seller tells me when I do not know the person.  I'm not saying you should or shouldn't tear your carbs out and clean them,  but I just wouldn't totally rely on a strangers word who might even be inexperienced, negligent, or simply lying when trying to rule out potential problems.

If you do narrow it down to the carbs,  there's tons of good info here and also on youtube walking you through the process specifically on the GSs.   It's a good idea to have, or know how to quickly get your hands on some carb parts like o-rings, gaskets yadda yadda  just in case you might need them before hand.  Good luck man! Hope you can get'er running!

In that case I suggest you take it to someone who does.

I know the previous owner and I saw the receipts for them.  I'm taking it too a shoo this weekend hopefully to get it diagnosed and fixed.
