These mountain roads are amazing.

Fun fact. You can in fact scrape the footpegs on the gs500 with no problems.

I chased and kept up with a guy on a CBR650 with my little GS.  Got by scraping pegs and hanging off.  I'm not the best at hanging off, I probably have improper technique, but I get by.
He would stroll away in the straights, of course, but I'd catch back up with some late braking and really throwing it down in the curves.
With a few minor mods the GS is a better performer than most give it credit for.

Yeah I love this thing.  A guy I ride with has a NC700 and we go up to the mountains and the roads here are so curvy you seriously can't get over 60 or so and we can keep up with guys on R6s unless they are just monsters out there.

Yeah, so this is my first bike, and it has taken me these first 900 miles to get comfortable. I'd never ridden prior to taking my MSF last fall. And since I bought it in February, I've had to replace the signal generator and resolve countless carb problems. And I'd never worked on a bike prior to purchasing this one. So I've learned a lot this year.

Anyway...

Now, in the spirit of America, your bike next to a Harley Davidson! Good luck! 😂😂😂

Yeah, don't rush yourself.  Your first few thousand miles are when mistakes will be the most common while you are building muscle control and coordination and getting familiar with riding on the road.  As a result it'll also be a dangerous time for you.  Just take things one step at a time.

I'm certified as an instructor and ride full time.  If you ever want tips on techniques and strategies feel free to message me.
Also, it's encouraged to retake classes if you are able.  The intermediate course is a one day course with a primary focus on range exercises and fundamentals.  If you are having a hard time with any maneuvers on the street it may be worth it.

Your bike next to a HD.  That'll be difficult!

Thanks man, I really appreciate the advice. Now that she's running correctly, I feel a lot better about pushing my limits a little bit at a time. I've dropped it once. In my driveway, grabbed a little bit of front break while hitting gravel. Learned that lesson the hard way. I'm learning a lot, and doing my best to be patient with my progress. Since I haven't had as much time on the bike as I'd like, I'll probably get into one of the intermediate courses next spring. I learned a ton in the beginner course. It's just hard to put miles on the thing when I've got two little ones at home. Can't very well pick them up from daycare on my GS lol.

Yeah lol...there's almost always a sportster in the parking lot at my work. On nice days, at least. It's hard to ride full time in this part of the country.

By the way, I watched about half of one of your moto vlog entries (the one you posted on this thread). Pretty cool stuff man, I'm going to try to start following.

Hey, cool!  I don't know how far I'll take it.  Mostly got the cam for safety, but it has an external mic so I thought I'd give vlogging a shot, especially because I live in a unique area.
I'll probably continue to upload vids pertaining to the pic challenge, and I might do a tips and tricks vid here and there for riding techniques/strategies.

My cam isn't the best quality and editing on Windows Movie Maker sucks.  Very limited capabilities in both.
If I get decent interest I'll start increasing production value.

Sweet, sounds like a good plan. I watched the rest of that first one. I think you posted another one on here? If so, I'll give it a watch later tonight.

Yeah, the website has long since lost the ability to upload pics itself.
I'm amazed that 3rd party picture hosting isn't more well known.
I'm even more amazed there isn't a sticky about it since like 50% of all newcomers complain about it.
By the way, if you surround your link with {IMG} and {/IMG} but use [ ] instead of { } it'll embed the photo so we can see it without having to click on your link.

I'll accept that pic, moonlight it is!
if you plan to fail do you still fail to plan?

If anyone is interested I made this into a Facebook group.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/993349910775927/

I'm going to link it on a few other groups I'm in.  With any luck it'll get international, and more popular if it involves a broader riding community.

I was trying to avoid doing this one to give someone else a piece of the pie, but it's gone long enough!

This one is going to be ambiguous.
Your moto in front of your favorite place to eat!

I'm really hoping I can get back into the game.

Someone decided it would be cute to drain the air out of my front tire and while I was pushing it to an air compressor the head unsealed on the tire.

Took the front tire off and getting it resealed today.  Just need to do a chain adjustment and oil change and ill be ready to ride again.

I think about this game a lot when I'm out riding... what I wanted to do was take a pic (of my bike of course) in front of my parents' house... because that really is my favorite place to eat!!! Haha either my mom's cooking or my dad is buying so when I visit, I'm always in for some great food. But I haven't gotten over there with the bike at all for the challenge  :icon_sad:
Superbike bars, '04 GSXR headlight & cowl, DRZ signals, 1/2" fork brace, 'Busa fender, stainless exhaust & brake lines, belly pan, LED dash & brake bulbs, 140/80 rear hoop, F tail lens, SV650 shock, Bandit400 hugger, aluminum heel guards & pegs, fork preload adjusters, .75 SonicSprings, heated grips

Finally!! Been doing a weight loss challenge with a group of friends and miss getting to eat out at my unhealthy places(Chinese, za, corn dogs, milkshakes.. I miss them ) River City Grill has some tasty dishes that don't hurt the wallet or scales though! So it's my current favorite for the next 4 weeks

Next challenge: Your bike with some sort of holiday decorations. ANY holiday. Can be your decorations, your neighbors, a strangers or ever a business/store setup. Doesn't have to be strung up, could even be advertisement or a Christmas tree yard.

Cold weather is moving in, can we get a couple more challenges before ol' jack frost starts to set it?

now I thought this was the GS500 picture game ... not the "whatever bike you are riding" picture game  :D

I was tempted to post a picture of my GS in front of my house, since it happens to be my favorite place to eat. Too easy, I suppose.
