I don't know if anyone here has done this yet, so if anyone's interested here is my 96 with an SV650 fairing.  It needed a little trimming to clear the bars (not stock, don't remember what kind), and some brackets to relocate the signals up a few inches. Other than that, it bolted right on.  Tell me what you think.  

looks good but i'm not a big fan of 1/4 fairings....i bet it helps at higher speeds
