So I am out at a BBQ with my fiances family, when her cousin says I should teach her how to ride. I promptly say sure! (how dumb.)

So we head to the high school parking lot a few miles down the road so I can teach her the basics. Stupid. I show her all the controls and basicly evertyhing you need to know to do a few 1st gear loops around the parking lot, stupid. I hop on the back just to ride around and make sure she gets the idea and catch the bike if it starts to fall, not a problem. We do 2-3 loops with out any incident. STUPID!

Well I hop off and let her go around by her self for a bit. Stupid. Amazing this huge parking lot she cant hardley turn around and somehow seems to be really good at getting right next to curbs every lap.
Well Stupid, she trys to turn around (stupid) again and finds her self heading head on towards a curb. Any normal person would either grab the front brake, or pull in the clutch, nope, a wrist full of throttle sounds like a great idea!!!!
So 10ft from the curb she nails it, hits the curb, and falls into a fence 3 feet from the curb.

First of all she was fine and wearing my Fiances' gear. The bike on the other hand...

First of all a broken clutch lever, so I cant drive the bike home.
So I call my woman and ask her to get a truck and come pick us up.
While we are waiting, I inspect the bike for more damage.

Busted up my speedo housing, severley cut the front tire sidewall, and scratched the rim. The left foot peg was bent in, but I was able to bend it back. (I hope there aren't any stress fractures in the metal.) Worst of all there is a small dent in the tank about the size of a quarter, so much for having a clean bike. The front forks might be bent but I cant tell without riding it.
Seeing as this is my only mode of transportation, I am screwed.
It will take at least a week to get a new clutch lever and maybe 2 to get a new tire.
She has offered to pay for all the damage, but I still have no idea how I am going to get to work this next week.

lesson to be learned? Make sure if you are going to teach a squid how to ride, check to see if they are a complete incompitant before you let them on your bike!!!!!

STUPID STUPID!!

Thanks for listening to my rant.

Sorry to hear about that, but that is exactly the reason I won't teach my wife how to ride on my bike.  I would rather fork out the $$ and send her to a MSF course and let her tear up there bikes.  Of course, I don't think she would be a bad rider and I know she would be careful, but still.

let every one first learn on an msf bike

I have taught my Fiance, my brother and one of my best friends how to ride on my bike without any problems. I figured that she would drop it which really didnt bother me seeing as there is already a little rash on both engine cases (previous owner), but Damn I wasent expecting to witness a header into a curb...

that's exactly why i don't want to learn to ride on my own bike!  i'll drop the msf bikes, thanks.  although, i don't think i'm incompetent, but i do realise i will make mistakes.

Cure for headaches:
Martha's Way
Take a lime, cut it in half and rub it on your forehead. The throbbing will go away.
Maxine's Way
Take a lime, mix it with tequila, chill and drink.
