GS500F alternator flywheel rotor compatability

I have removed the flywheel, trying to find a replacement as one of the 6 magnets has detached itself and broken up (Goat's syndrome?).
The stator and shaft end look as if they'll go again, but I haven't managed to find a 2004 replacement (or 2003-2009).
My question is, are older flywheels compatible with the 2004 engine? Part numbers are different, some older ones seem to have 3 magnets, and a new one is around £200 here in the UK (ouch).
Also, the taper on my crankshaft is quite scored, so, apart from lapping a replacement rotor in with valve paste, is there any way to repair this without a full engine rebuild? Metal epoxy?
Any responses welcomed.
Cheers

The 3 magnet flywheels generate AC at a lower frequency than the 6. In theory its less efficient but owners in here have tried it and reported no significant differences.

If you think the tapers are beyond reclaiming by lapping the only option  is to 'glue' it on and hope for the best although I have seen them welded on.!! Don't use thread locker, there are products far more suitable for this particular application. I would go with Loctite 660

Thanks so much for your quick response.
If changing to the 3 magnet rotor should I also change the stator?
Thanks also for the advice on which Loctite product to use, i was unsure of which would suit the purpose best. Should I also use this on the thread, or use a different Loctite?
Thanks
