Engine had 13,XXX miles before connecting rod let go.  The rod didn't come completely off.  One of the nuts was hanging on by a few threads.  No damage to any of the parts listed here.

All prices are plus packaging and shipping:

engine cases - $40
trans shafts, gears, dogs - $40
shift drum and forks - $30
counterbalance shaft - $10
Cams - $25 ea.

Head is at the machine shop getting cleaned and checked over.  Will keep y'all posted.

Pics on request.  My cellphone is a cheapo $20 special so it is very difficult to get them to upload, otherwise I might go ahead and do a photo shoot.

The Buddha

Hey man, I hate to rain on your "for sale" but a mass of flying metal inside the motor usually results in shrapnel type crap getting pushed into the bearings via the oil pump. Its very common to find most plain bearings are gone and need to be replaced, and you cant get them in odd sizes.
Now having said that, I cracked a piston on my MZ and my car mech and motorcycle machinist said the exact same thing to me.
I pulled the head off and took it to him, and there was a crack in the piston, and literally no missing metal. He said - OK this will be fine to rebuild. Also helped that it was not a plain bearing crank or cam bearing bike.
Cool.

I hear ya, Buddha.  This engine was shut down the instant it made noise.  All of the 'other' bearings, being the ones that were still intact, appear fine upon visual inspection.  I did split the cases and observed the shrapnel in the crankcase, but surely did not get past the filter.   :thumb:

Even so, the crankcase isn't broken, and after a very thorough cleaning can be returned to service.  There was no metal in the top of the head, and the machinist who handles 100% of our cylinder heads here at my day job gives it a clean bill of health.  He has owned his own business for as long as I can remember and is very well practiced in dealing with motorcycles as well as cars.  In a nut shell, I trust him all the way.

Perhaps some pictures would help prove my point?  The only thing that has been cleaned at all is the head.  When I get hold of an actual camera I will post some up of what I have.
