Only thing that goes in my fuel tank is fuel.


StaBil is only necessary for storage.  If you put it in every tank it's a waste of money.

do you use anything for storage or do u not store your bike?
i use the sta-bil 360 performance during the season and the red for storage.....
i normally go through one bottle a season

I'm lucky that I have a shop that sells ethanol free gas right down the road from my house. E-free gas lasts longer so I don't use any stabil. The previous owner of my Honda used a product called Star Tron additive in every tank. It's some kind of enzyme treatment that soaks up ethanol/water.

I don't store my GS... and I just put fuel in. Although I do prefer to go to a BP or a Sunoco!

I do not store.  I now live where I can ride year round.

Even when I did store I rarely used additives.  Let the tank run down before storage, then I'd add fresh gas come spring.

MMO (double dose for storage), 5 bikes so I always add 2oz to 5 gallons...cuz I never know when I will have that bike out again.

I use Startron unless I can find ethanol free gas.

I would run 87 in my GS, when I wasn't using 112.  Total waste of money by the way.  No power gains, burns hotter, and costs an arm and a leg, but it smells awesome.  I didn't make a habit out of it but I ran maybe 4-5 tanks of Torco and/or Cam2 over the course of like 2 years.  Grabbed a few tanks from the auto guys next to the machine shop I worked for and I couldn't resist if I found it at a pump...

My CB and Buell both called for min 91.  Oddly enough my Buell manual said that race gas could damage the fuel system.  You'd think a bike that was race bred would be able to handle high octane...

The Duck I haven't looked up what it wants, I just ran 93 from the moment I got it because, well, it's a Duck and I'm sure it wants something higher performance.



Edit: In my Ducati manual it calls for 95-98 RON.  I had to look up a conversion of RON to the octane standard that the USA uses (R+M/2).  It is apparently about 91-94.
So I was doing good.

The GS manual calls for 91 RON or 87 octane by way of R+M/2

my GS500 sat in a garage empty of fuel in Florida, for 3 years of my own ownership, without a gas cap... and all I did was slosh some 2 stroke fuel in the gas tank, and it sat... no rust developed past what was already there.

I find cauliflower cheese is a good additive for gas...

Cool. I thought I'd read somewhere to run 87 in the GS.

+1 for two stroke oil.

The inside of my strom tank was looking a bit discoloured and also had spots of rust on the bare metal around the filler hole. I had the idea to try two stroke oil at 500:1 ratio. Works out to 40ml per 20l.
The resulting mix stops the rust from re-appearing as the fuel still feels oily to touch even at that dilution. I can't see where it would do any harm to the motor or fuel system.
I also use the same mix in the GS tank without issue.
