So, I've been looking all over this website and can't find anything to explain this to me. I drilled out the Welch plugs blocking the screws that adjust fuel flow. The one on the left of the bike was about 2.5 turns out. Normal. But the other one was all the way in. Can someone explain this to me? Are they not the same? I have them both turned out now while listening to the motor and it seems to run fine but it still puzzles me.

The drill bit can go through the plug and bite into the screw, turning it inward--I've seen it happen on Yamahas.

I drilled them out myself and the screws are fine. I was just surprised to find one of them completely turned in. Isnt that odd or am I wrong?

That's what he meant. The drill bit contacted the head of the screw when you drilled it.
If you don't believe me, set that one to 0 and try to run the bike.

No kidding....alright. I didn't understand what he meant at first. So I should count myself lucky it didn't break anything. Well that explains that then. Thank you.

Shop that did my top-end rebuild set one carb to all the way in. Bike ran fine for like 5 minutes until it burned all the fuel out of the float bowls. But they also didn't connect the petcock vacuum line and had the idle speed/mixture all screwed up on both carbs. Some magic combination of screw-ups can result in the bike faking you out.
