I'm sure your problem is not caused by the mixture screws being too rich. My guess is that there is a fuel line/petcock problem. another option is the ignition system. Check for spark when the engine cuts out.

Not saying it isn't something different but would you mind explaining? Up till this point, I had no issues with the petcock system or ignition. I'm obviously still learning the ropes with this bike so I like to get details. I'm a teach a man to fish rather than give a man a fish type of guy. Not being rude in saying I don't think that's the issue, just based on what I did to it today and not having any sort of issue like that previously, I just figured the problem would be in one of the systems I worked on today. When removing the brass caps, they both loosened and rotated the mixture screw when drilling so I don't even know where they were at to begin with. I can assume they were at 3 turns from the manual but I'm not 100% so figured that would be a starting point.

Appreciate the feedback!

That sounds like low floats. Stalling while running is almost always too little fuel. Flooding happens when it is parked and turned off.

It may be too rich at idle but 3 turns is not nuts.

So, was trying to go over everything I did yesterday and thought to myself...did I possibly put my new jets in the wrong places? Got a kit from Buddha which had 4 total jets. 2 pilot and I now assume to mains? I'm thinking I put the mains in the mids. I was at wotk and had people interrupting me constantly so now I'm wondering if I goofed. Can someone tell by the pic? New, shiny are replaced jets. If the kit came with a pilot and mid then I'm ok but that just doesn't seem right now that I'm thinking back...

Disregard...caught up with Buddha and I got em swapped around by accident. Looks like carbs off for the 3rd time this week! Glad I have patience 😂

Don't know how you interpreted that to mean !y bike won't idle off choke. It just idles low when cold.

I meant that the bike shouldn't idle at 500 rpm off the choke even if cold, that indicates an issue.

Haven't been on much as of late because I've been enjoying the crap out of riding! Wanted to say thanks again to all on this forum. When I bought the bike, the kid I got it from said it needed work but wasn't quite sure what to do. Honestly, neither was I. But with the help from all of you, she's been running GREAT lately! Put almost 300 miles on her last weekend and when we had sun and above 55 degree temps today, I came home for lunch and swapped 4 wheels for 2.

There's still some tinkering that needs done but for the most part, I feel pretty confident about this resurrection lol.

Thanks all!

The blue ones are especially pretty. It sounds as though you enjoy your GS500f as much as I enjoy mine.
