Hi All
Anyone on here had any dealings with shuttle valves? Im in the process of rebuilding four pairs of forks (All station tubes badly pitted)
I can source reasonably priced fork tubes but I am told I will have to use my old shuttles?
1. I haven't really got a clue what they are.
2. how would I get them out and fit into the new tubes.

Any help and advice would be appreciated.

I've installed them in an RZ Yamaha with very good improvement over standard. I seem to remember thinking that they could work in the GS but can't specifically remember.
The ones I used cost about half the competitors price.
They were from Mikes XS - guggle it.
Shuttle valves give you adjustable damping, much more like modern forks.

Thanks for the Reply.
I may be getting mixed up here, I was told the shuttles are already in the bottom of the fork tubes. when you turn the tube upside down and look into the end where the lower bushes are there is a mechanism which rattles if you shake the tube I think this is the item I need to remove and refit into the new tubes. If I go down this route I save quite a bit of cash. The alternative is to buy the tubes complete with the shuttles but at double the cost. you can see my dilemma. possibly 4 pairs of forks now. Ive tried looking on the net but haven't been able to find anything. Reckon this must be a trade secret or something  :dunno_black:

Hmm... I am not sure what parts you're referring to. Perhaps have a look at this video here if you haven't already seen it?

I'm thinking maybe you are talking about the piston? Taking a shot in the dark here lol

Also, check out this site here and type in your bike's year to get the specific diagram... but one should come up like this one for my bike (98) and you can see all the fork parts and their names listed below the pic.

Been away so hence late reply. I got fork tube shuttles sorted by a local suzuki mechanic so all good now. Still don't know what he did but
didn't take him long and he charged me just £10.00  Result!!
