Front brake light - always on?

Hi all,

I was just showing my brother my new bike and realised that the previous owner had disconnected the switch from the front brake to the lights.

Plugged it back in and the brake light is always on, regardless of whether the brake is applied or not.

Not sure how he got it to pass an MOT like this, but its too late now anyway!

The bike has been dropped on its right side at some point, I assume damaging the lever.

Is the correct choice to replace the lever or just replace the brake switch? Anyone had a similar problem before?

Thanks again, I really appreciate all the help I've got from this forum so far :)

are they OEM levers? probably just the switch, yes really easy to replace.

if they aren't OEM levers, there's no cutout on after market levers for the switch to actually slide into, and lots of people just break the little nib on the switch that makes contact with the lever, off. or they cut a slot into the lever [proper]

Thanks for the reply, theyre not oem levers but it turns out the switch was not tightened properly and had just moved out of the way of the lever, leaving it always turned on.
